Was it worth doing a branch transfer into SC? Did it help out your civilian career? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/was-it-worth-doing-a-branch-transfer-into-sc-did-it-help-out-your-civilian-career

Hello everyone. Right now it is time for me to sign up for CCC and I am debating moving to the SC from QM. The problem for me is that I really enjoy what I do and I want to do LG CCC but, at the same time, I want to go SC (Signal Corps) so I can take advantage of the civilian related training as I believe it can help me in my civilian career. My question to you all is as SC CPT's, will a branch transfer from QM to SC attain my goal of enhancing my IT civilian career or am I better off just staying in QM/LG? Soldiers needs leaders that care and Leaders that enjoy what they do care more. Reserve Component SCCC is not going to enhance any of your civilian IT skills because you do not learn IT skills in that course. Good luck! I can say that my direct supervisor at the time killed much of my desire to be in the Signal Corps.

As someone who currently works in the IT field, I can say that any time I had in the military was not worth anything on the outside. Certifications are the biggest piece to get in for a job, generally at a starting level, and as you get more experience and certifications you can move up.

Logistics, depending on where you want to live, can earn you far more than IT, especially with leadership experience. Logistics is a much needed vocation that is under appreciated these days, and nearly anyone can do IT and wants to since it's generally a cushy office job.
