So, while we are out in formation waiting to head out to training, the DS's decided to tornado the barracks. One DS, some Infantry cat, pokes his head out the window of one of the bays, and holds up a pair of dress shoes and asks who they belonged to. One of the PVT's in formation said they were his, then the DS proceeds to rear back his hand and throws then down on the rock covered ledge right below the window so hard they bounced 2 ft and then landed on the ground in front of the formation. We listened for another 20 mikes before we moved out. When we got back and let into the barracks, the damage was horrid. I saw less damage after a level 5 hurricane. Luckily, my bed was only across the room. Some had wall lockers in a different bay. A tornado squatted on our barracks at Great Lakes and inverted everything and mixed it with all the glass shards from what used to be windows. We were nuts to butts huddled in the shower using our towels to shield from the glass being whipped in there. It was my only experience with a tornado but I'll never forget the orange-green sky and the smell either. Yeah I do remember now that you mention it. They took us out to the Grinder for PT or Marching and we came back to that and all the C/Cs in Batt 5 in our faces screaming at us. What a unique experience. One kid finally couldn't take it anymore took 1 swing at the C/C who ducked it and then started running around the Barracks like a Caged Animal. I think they discharged that kid. My training battery, Bravo 1/40th FA, was co-ed (about two male trainees to one female trainee). And as you can figure, some of them were having sex behind the drill sergeants' backs. For the record, I WAS NOT ONE OF THE GUYS LUCKY (or unlucky) ENOUGH TO HAVE A BCT GIRLFRIEND!!! But somehow, my name got brought up in it. So we had a health & welfare inspection in which the DSs were looking for contraband and love notes. Most of the guys in BCT were ugly, so the DSs only checked a few items with them. Some of the other guys thought they were studs and pimps, so they got checked a little more thoroughly. I must have been the best-looking MF in the entire battery because ALL TWELVE OF THE DRILL SERGEANTS took turns destroying my wall locker, bunk, display, and everything around it! They even checked the g--damn ceiling tiles above my wall locker! They were PISSED when they didn't find anything with me.
