President Obama addresses America about the reckless, ignorant shooting at the Charleston Carolina Church. I really am glad he addressed what is going on, and I think in a very positive way...

What happened there at that Church, Ugh I hate it! It's dumb and pathetic. Prayers to those involved! Senseless!! I'm glad they caught the SOB so they can have some justice. Those idiots usually go out the cowardly way!

However, POTUS Obama states that the people who are getting these weapons to do these kinds of acts, well it's too easy. I agree that people that are deemed mentally Ill, yes, it just might be. But SANE people don't do these things.

POTUS: "At some point, we as a country will have to reckon with the fact that this type of mass violence does not happen in other advanced countries. It doesn’t happen in other places with this kind of frequency."

What I can't get over and/or don't know how to perceive this, is that he thinks this type of mass murder doesn't happen anywhere else. Or not in this magnitude...

When I think about what goes on in Israel, Palestine, Iran, Iraq... I am left wondering HUH??? No I don't believe what he said. LOL

Do you agree??

I included my most FAV Democrats so that we might have an adult discussion. :-)

IMHO I would say no it is not a true statement. It does happen in other countries.

Parlez vous Hebdo, two gunmen entered the office of a satirical magazine in France with an assortment of guns and murdered 11 people (and injured 11 more). After leaving, they killed a police officer. And in a marketplace catering to Jews another five were murdered and 11 wounded.

In 2011, a deranged Anders Behring Breivik killed eight people by setting off a van bomb in Oslo Norway, before going on to murder 69 more people, mostly children, at a summer camp. This is the single worst shooting spree incident in history.

It takes only a rudimentary search to find out that mentally unstable killers can be found anywhere. In February of this year, nine people were killed in Czech Republic killing spree. In Erfurt, Germany, a couple of years ago, an expelled student murdered 13 teachers, 2 students and a policeman. That same year, in the Serbian village of Velika Ivanča, a gunman shot and killed 14 people—many of them his own relatives— and a Russia gunman opened fire with a semi-automatic rifle killing six people. A couple of years before that, in England, a lone gunman killed 12 people and injured 11. In 2013 a mentally unstable man in Rio de Janeiro killed 12 children and seriously wounded another 12.

Evil is everywhere and evil is the root of the problem. Until the hearts and minds are changed in these evil people the carnage will continue.

The medication this SOB was on was neither a depressant or anxiety med.

"What is Suboxone?
Suboxone contains a combination of buprenorphine and naloxone. Buprenorphine is an opioid medication. An opioid is sometimes called a narcotic. Naloxone is an special narcotic drug that reverses the effects of other narcotic medicines.
Suboxone is used to treat narcotic (opiate) addiction. It is not for use as a pain medication."

Now, I am going to throw in a little personal story and history here about my life with someone that I thought was the greatest. Then I found out he was on drugs and he was taken Suboxone. Man... at the end of the month when he ran out, because he abused them, well, needless to say, I had bruised ribs, bruises, black eyes... He got crazy! Just insane. He wanted to get a weapon so that he could "protect the family." I just wouldn't let him. I really felt that one day, when he was off on his lows, withdrawing, that he would get the gun and kill me. I really felt that strongly about it.

So in this case, I think we are dealing with a crack-head who was just IGNORANT and UGH. I could say so many bad things about this person. I just love how the community has gotten together they way that they have. It's awesome. Shows he lost the battle.

I don't know, maybe he had some effects from the old narcotics that he was being treated for... However it sounds like he was just a hateful racist. No different than the New Black Panther, Muslim S-Baghood Isis, or Nazis... By the way, all supported by the left-wing Democrats

I agree, murder, mayhem and slaughter happen routinely in countries throughout the ME and Africa. Kidnappings, which often end in murder, are rampant in many Latin American countries. China executes between 4,000 and 5,000 people a year. There are plenty examples of a Chinese snapping and killing other people. It's time for the President and the left to stop harping on gun control and come to grips with the lousy mental health system in the U.S. Tens of thousands of deranged people roam the streets in American with no way to do anything about the mass murders they commit until after they do them. The left created this problem when the threw open the doors to the asylums, but they want to blame the right and the 2nd amendment for all the blood spilled.

An attempted mass murder in another church was prevented by a woman with a gun. "Matthew Murray, carrying two handguns, a rifle and 1,000 rounds of ammunition killed two teenaged girls in a church parking lot in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and then entered the church where he began shooting. "The potential for disaster was incredible. There were 7,000 people on the church grounds at the time." Jeanne Assam, a former Minneapolis police officer and volunteer church security guard with a license to carry a gun stepped forward, identified herself and then "engaged him and took him down."

I live in Colorado Springs and remember of course when he shot up that church....Libtards are part of the problem by scaring the public on firearms...In my church we have a cop posted and some people carry their firearm with them to church....No mass shooting yet

The guy hated black people and committed an act of terror against that demographic... this sort of violence happens all around the world. It's just more common here than most places in the Western world.

We should also remember that it used to be far more common than it is today.

Racists don't usually associate with the people they hate. Before they took his facebook page down of the 84ish "friends" he had 31 were black. It could still be racially motivated but to jump on the "it is another racially motivated attack" bandwagon seems premature since most of the facts of the case are still unknown. Regardless it is a horrible crime and a needless loss of life.

On his jacket, he had two flags on it that represented Africa. I really just don't get it. Never will!

People who are not racists generally don't go out of their way to wear the flags of apartheid governments. It's quite possible that his racist feelings only developed over the last couple years. However given his display of racist symbols and his choice of target, I believe it's safe to say that this attack was racially motivated.

SGT (Join to see) - My understanding is that the flags were changed after the governments abandoned apartheid. He was wearing the apartheid government flags, which would be reasonably be interpreted as someone expressing support for apartheid.

So here is the real problem. Our country is consumed with Catlin or Bruce or whatever the hell it is this week. It is on the cover of every other magazine. We here on RP have posted hundreds of times about this. Yet we as a country we choose to ignore that there are seriously mentally ill people that are not being taken care of. When that is on every magazine and newspaper cover then this will be addressed.

We really do have to attack this mental health issue. I just think it would cut out half of the murder rate. I really do.

No that is not true. He knows it is not a true statement but he has never been about the truth.

It is tragic and sad, but it is just as tragic and sad that people are using this to further their agenda.

Disgusting on a couple different levels...I do find it interesting how quickly he was able to have prepared comments and how easily he is able to realize what this act was, when he has such a hard time with the same kind of act by Muslim terrorist? I also found it interesting that the media had no issues reporting race and gender in this story, something that is so uncommon that when it does happen you notice that it is being used?

A last thought for now, was this a hate crime because those murdered were black or because they were Christians attacked in a church?

I actually knew the answer but was trying to upset some of our progressive friends. I think is would be interesting to watch their thoughts as when it is looked as a hate crime against Christian...which our current media would not allowed to happen...if was even reported beyond the local level?

I actually despise the term 'hate crime' as I have yet to hear of any murder that was not hate related on some level...maybe a true insanity case? 'Loved him so much I shot him to end their suffering.'

I did some research and this is just one of the sites I located. Funny that most of the countries that outright ban weapons (IE guns/rifles) seem to not do so well against someone with a weapon. Laws only apply to those who follow them.

Last time I checked murder was illegal regardless of method and I would bet you dollars to doughnuts that church was a gun free zones. Laws are like locks, they keep honest people honest.

1SG fully agree. But more gun laws? Then the courts can charge him for another broken law. Those who have no respect for human life will in no way follow another law. A criminal is a criminal, defined by action, and not race, creed, or color.

I man in China killed a bunch of children with a Knife a couple of years ago. There was also a man in Norway that shot and killed a large number of people. The UK is plagued by what they call "Knife Crime"

Probably the worst attack other than the Oklahoma Bombing was done by a man who put explosives in a school and blew it it up. This took place 1927.

Idiots and crazy people will find a way to do hard to other with or without a firearm.
