He&#39;d previously worked for the Federal Bureau of Prisons. He was promoted to E8 on his first look as an AGR and only has 6 years of AFS with deployments. The bottom line is he could retire in five or six years with the Feds, buying his military years, versus 14 years waiting for 20 AFS. He was told that his position (retention) was too important. Thoughts?
