UK will help destroy Islamic State, David Cameron tells US - Is the UK going to take the lead in the fight against ISIS?

RP Members what do you think?

It is going to take the UK getting more involved in order for the United States to commit ground forces in the near future?

Do RP Members want the US to get more involved?

Do you think Cameron will get the UK to support a new strategy?

It doesn't look like the UK has a clear strategy (or they are not revealing it for OPSEC purposes) on how to defeat ISIS. If they do have a clear strategy I would support them 100% and encourage our government to do the same.

They have a better grasp of what is needed to defeat ISIS than we do. From what I know and have learned by a self-confessed "Muslim" that lives in the UK is that the people are being over-run by the radicals.

This guy was an idiot tho. He would thank God, and then I would say something to the fact like "Dude! You just thanked God. Where is the prophet and Allah?" "Well, I never said I was a good practicing Muslim." Whatever yo. It IS really about how "popular" that group is. I mean, some people would find that strange, but that IS the "In thing" now. Joining ISIS.

I find it amusing how all others KNOW that we need to put troops on the ground in order to defeat ISIS EXCEPT our Leader, Obama. We need to, whether we like it or not. It's just that plain and simple. We need to find a solid strategy and we need to blow these guys straight to hell. What do you think the United States would do to help the UK if they jumped into the fight with all boots in? Their Prime Minister even acknowledges that ISIS is one of the BIGGEST THREATs that the WORLD has EVER faced. And no, non-radicalized Muslims are not advocating the violence BUT they do buy into the prejudices.

We need to get more involved. I hate it, but that IS the answer.

COL Mikel J. Burroughs As others have stated the UK is a great country to act WITH the US but lacks the military capability. We are 'game on' in the homeland in the US, Britain, France, Turkey, Germany. It is time for NATO to act as one entity and use all coalition forces to crush the Islamic State and those states that support it.
The US still has the military capability we have a leader who lacks the will to use it. If we don't treat ISIL as a threat to our existence and get serious about it, we will just continue this sad sham of a 'war' effort by the current administration.

LTC John Shaw I really hadn't thought about NATO again, but that would be a great place to start. I think Saudi Arabia is taking the threat seriously and we need some big players in the Middle East to join on the fight as well. Some are already, but we need a couple more big wealthy players as well

I would say no. And knowing our president we wont either. We will get a lot of lip service while he does nothing. The will continue to inspire crazies here in the US to kill us service members and The White House will do ZERO to help by beating back ISIS or allowing service members to be armed to protect ourselves. We will continue to be easy targets thanks to this President. Wonder if he would like to give up his secret service detail and go out as a target like he makes us do.

We all know that there will be no real effort or results without the US being heavily involved. MOst of our allies are force multipliers, not the force. We need to get in or get out. Right now we are dabbling with air strikes and some troops on the ground. The training program Obama promised to fight ISIS is a joke. I think it has produced less than 5000 possible solders (according to testimony). If it is important to our vital national security interests we better get busy. If not, why are we dabbling?

I myself think we should be involved. If you stand by and do nothing then your just as guilty as the individuals committing the crime.

Only if and when we get involved we have our ROE changed and not published to the enemy.

Somebody had better take the lead. The US isn't going to until this Administration ends and maybe not even then...

CPT Jack Durish I believe that Obama will do everything in his power to keep the democrats away from going into another conflict or providing a strategy along with other countries to taek down ISIS, no matter what the cost is until he helps Hillary gets into his seat. It just comes down to politics. That is just my opinion. I hope that I'm wrong on the second account.
