Would you vote for her because she was a Navy SEAL?

Decorated veteran Kristin Beck caused a media firestorm when she publicly came out as a woman in 2013, and just two years later she is launching herself back into the fray to run for Congress.

Beck had served in the U.S. Navy SEALS as Christopher Beck for 20 years and 13 deployments before she made her transition. During her tenure as a member of SEAL Team Six, Beck earned 29 medals for her service and valor, including a Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

I would vote for her, depending on what she stands for. It would have nothing to do with her being a SEAL or transgendered. I would view her as skeptically as any candidate.

Honestly, whether she was a Seal or Transgender plays little into whether I would vote for her.

What is her political philosophy? Is she consistent in it? That's what I really care about in my elected representatives.

No SGM Matthew Quick, you got it wrong! Check the training records, Kristen Beck never attended BUDS! Kristen was NEVER a Navy Seal, Christopher Beck is the one that attended BUDS, he is the one that was the Seal.....if Kristen claims that she served as a Seal, I lose all respect for her as someone that has crossed a thin line of Stolen Valor....you see, you can't pick & choose, you can't be Kristen and claim the Service of Christopher....it just aint right!

I do not endorse identity politics whereby I vote for someone merely because they match a single demographic, e.g. she's a woman or he's a Native American.

I vote for the political opinions the candidate espouses and my perception of their experience and character for when the unknown issue comes about.

If in the meantime, the First ______ gets elected, well...

She has quite the impressive resume and I thank her for her service. BUDs alone must be grueling, let alone 13 deployments. If you check her official site, it basically identifies her as a conservative libertarian I think, although she doesn't really fit into any one box. She's pro gun, against spying on the american population, and supports a livable minimum wage, so I like her. However, the person she's challenging is a 34 year incumbent with his fingers in all the important places, so lets see if she can overcome that.

No I can not vote for someone so mentally unstable. There is documented proof;

That is the fallacy of these so called anti-discrimination laws, they end up discriminating against other groups that aren't classified as "protected".

Should it be a matter of his/her birth gender? XX or XY chromosomes, let alone penis, vulva or functional uterus do not dictate how a person will perform a job that demands critical thinking skills. If she can produce a rational argument for or against a position and stand on those grounds without waffling, she may be a person I can entrust my vote to. I prefer to know the grounds, position and ethics of a politician rather than the sexual identity or latent sexual characteristics their body current displays.

A Seal will get my respect for what they have done, and go to the front of the line for people I will trust and listen to in a Tactical situation, for Congress, I want to know their affiliation (D,R,I) their views on subjects, and are they flip floppers, I will GUESS that a Seal is less likely to be changing their views too fast or often, But I remind people that Jesse Ventura was also a Seal, and in many ways he has gone off the deep end, and no, I would not trust him in an elected position either.

No, I absolutely would not. I need to know her character in and out of the military, integrity, where she stands on the issues, etc. Voting for someone solely because they have military service, is very irresponsible for a voter.

What are her qualifications? Educational background? Any occupational history that relates to government? Any legal certifications or history? Don't care about gender, and if I need someone to assault a village stealthily, I'll consider her background as a SEAL, but neither has any bearing on her qualifications for congress...

Why has the current story on this case been removed? Each time I try to read it, it’s apparently been taken down. I’m guessing threats? 7-8 years later and this guy decides he’s still a guy and was taken advantage of and propagandized? I’m guessing the “advanced beatings” course went to the back of his mind, after he’d been taught how to recognize propaganda? Propaganda and coercion, rationalization are around us everyday. From this issue, to the color issue, it is line by line out of the material. Why we can’t see that the techniques that we’ve learned, that we’ve deployed, are used by social and political scientist each and everyday is beyond me. Do we have to feel so happy in our everyday lives to the point of ignoring the obvious? I could understand being put into “situations” and somewhat agreeing in order to get out of that situation, but I haven’t seen anyone doing those things to people in their living rooms. Maybe propaganda and coercion are more effective when you aren’t expecting it? YA THINK
