I have 3 years TIS and 3 years left on contract. I just started a federal civilian job and have been told by other reservist coworkers that it is a good thing to look into so that I can focus on my career progression/probationary requirements for my new federal job.Transferring from drilling guardsman to IRR with time left on contract?2020-07-01T14:34:23-04:00SPC Private RallyPoint Member6061918<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Who would a POC to transfer from drilling guardsman to IRR in the Louisiana National Guard and is it even possible? However, be advised that if you are a first termer....the IRR is only for the 2 years portion of your 6x2. You may have to come back to finish up the active time when IRR time is done. Again, speak with your Retention NCO for clarification.Response by MSG Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 1 at 2020 2:39 PM2020-07-01T14:39:23-04:002020-07-01T14:39:23-04:00SSgt Christophe Murphy6062153<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I'm a current federal employee and can say that there are plenty of Reservists and Guard Members on the job. If you want to pursue this make sure you do it for you and what you want instead of what some rando told you. Sounds like you need to talk to your Leadership and retention NCO to review your options.Response by SSgt Christophe Murphy made Jul 1 at 2020 3:40 PM2020-07-01T15:40:33-04:002020-07-01T15:40:33-04:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member6062406<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>You’ll need to talk to your readiness NCO and your Unit Retention NCO!
