I kept that in mind my entire career and I always trained my people to have that mindset.

Train as you fight but then the Army would always throw a monkey wrench into the works when they deployed you and you didn't end up fighting as you trained.

I don't remember in my career anybody being allowed to fight as they trained. If they were, The Wall would be a quarter of its size.

I always trained with, "The best laid plans turn to shit at first contact." It always worked for me because it meant you had to do things over and over so even when things went south people knew their jobs and we were able to keep moving forward.

I think it sounds pretty but as mentioned below, doesn't really work when put into practice. Just like most things in life, you can read all the books, view all the film and talk til you are blue in the face but once it turns real, you must change to the situation that you find yourself in.
