In an avalanche of "what if" scenarios where the US becomes something other than what it's "supposed to be"and Chile adopted the US Constitution (pre-socialism) and the ideals that made this country great, would you remain committed to the North American land mass between Canada and Mexico? To you, is "America" a land mass or an ideal? 2016-09-19T00:07:51-04:00 MSG Private RallyPoint Member 1904995

A while ago I asked about best places to retire. It's the belief that all people are created equal, that we are endowed by our creator certain unalienable rights. That we are born with life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It's also a belief that brave men and women will protect these ideals from anyone who dare threaten it. ;)

My hope is that America's freedoms expand far out beyond our country to others. Though they may not be "Americans" - they may adopt similar if not near identical rights and freedoms. This is our home, and regardless of home broken we feel that it is, it is what we have. I think that the best part of this post, is knowing that because of the ideals of our nation, you are able to ask it. We are able to have this conversation without fear of reprimand. There are plenty of people in our nation who say they're patriots, but their values are simply bigotry and fear. I gave up my birth citizenship after I immigrated to the U.S.

I am currently working in a special duty assignment working with State Dept. at different embassies. Regardless of the anti-U.S. foreign government sponsored rhetoric the one constant I see is foreigners wanting to immigrate to the U.S. The reason is simple. We, America, represent the best opportunities. I love my country and will do anything in my power to ensure its continued success and progress. If America expands, fine. If she stays the same, also fine. I enjoy visiting other nations, but just because they adopt the concept or ideals doesn't make their respective nation America. We have a history and culture all our own. It isn't always great but it's ours.
