To what units can an 88M be assigned at JBLM? What is the day to day like?

Curious what units an 88M at JBLM could be assigned to and what the day to day is. I've heard of 88M getting stationed there and not even doing 88M related tasks. Thanks!

You could go almost anywhere. There is a Sustainment Brigade or you could go to either of the FSC's in 2ID. It just depends on the manpower. Oh by the way, almost any unit you go to as an 88M will involve non related 88M tasks. Thats just the way the cookie crumbles. If you want to be a true driver and MOSTLY do your 88M job, the only place ive seen that in 24 yrs as a Transporter was in Germany. It is what it is, make the most of it. Youll be just fine JBLM is a nice assignment. Good luck to you

I can only say what I know about the task of an 88m. I was with the 3rd armored division. Other then the normal motor pool duties. I was able to be a runner for the battalion, so I wasn't in the kasern as much. All of your duties will be based around driving, with having plenty of guard duty. Be blessed

You can be stationed at any unit on JBLM. You are a Soldier first and an 88M second at any unit in the Army, so you will do Soldier MOS-immaterial tasks and fill MOS-Immaterial positions like gate guard, AHA Guard, training room NCO, Reception Cadre, or whatever other tasking your unit has been assigned to fill.

You could really go to any unit. I’m at JBLM and I’m in a field artillery unit and the 88m’s are in one company with the mechanics. Their day to day is not too busy unless they have a school/class or range. So pretty chill. However when it’s time for the field they are very busy and get worked.

I’ve never been Assigned to JBLM, only trainer there. But me personally I’ve been assigned to IN BN and Combat Engineers! I loved both assignments especially in theatre

There’s a few transportation companies on north fort 523ctc and 513tc .. gonna get that work in both of them but you’ll learn your job for sure
