Tips to overcome USAJOBS trouble?

Hey all I am new here and I want to help out those who are struggling to figure out the USAJOBS website (I do not work for them nor represent them). I ran into a Marine recently who was having a hard time trying to figure out how to get noticed by employers on the website. So I made him a hasty power point on what to do. If you would like it let me know and I'll email it to you or if you're more knowledgeable about it let me know so I can send it to you and have you critique it.

The best advice I have gotten from a mentor about getting noticed on USAJobs is this: they get a ton of applicants. So make it easy for them. Don't over inflate your resume. Employers list exactly what they are looking for. So copy and paste the duties and descriptions, and tailor it to your qualifications. That way its easier and quicker to distinguish who is qualified.

Just my experience on the matter. There's a lot of tips and tricks. I've been through a couple MEBs, so I have applied for quite a few jobs and have been "noticed" a few times. Its definitely confusing. I hate that website.

Can you please send it to me. I used USAJOBS to apply for a job at the VA doing the same job I did for 4 years in the hospital in Naples, Italy. I had a friend who worked in the same place and was the one who told me about the job before it was posted. So any information would help

I would most definitely be interested. That is a very difficult site to navigate. It takes between 30-40 minutes to apply for one position so making it count is huge.
