Effective too. IS needs to be stopped. I do wish the middle east could stop this on their own. Centuries of termoil and corruption make this an extremely difficult task. Wahhabi sometimes refer to themselves as Muwahhidun. Response by CSM Michael J. Uhlig made Aug 20 at 2015 6:02 PM 2015-08-20T18:02:40-04:00 2015-08-20T18:02:40-04:00 GySgt Wayne A. Saudi Arabia seems awfully silent on Daesh, and I can't help but wonder who's side their really on. Think one moment about how seriously Iran is taking Daesh and how they are actively engaged against it, meanwhile we hear and see nothing from Saudi Arabia who has the third most funded military in the world, spending more than Iraq, Israel and Australia combined. Saudi Arabia spent more on their military last year than Russia.

One more reason I believe we need to avoid falling for that most famous of classic blunders, "never get involved in a land war in Asia" ~Vizzini. Well, that's my opinion. Americans tend to focus on the mental and the physical, but have been neglecting the spiritual. As a result, many Americans are incomplete, searching for something without knowing quite what it is. Sadly, many get drawn into cults and other radical associations that they perceive will fulfill this unrequited need. It seems that the Muslims understand this and make religious indoctrination a part of military training. Although I may find their particular brand of spiritual identity unsatisfying or even repugnant, I can't deny that it serves a purpose (and it serves them well). I don't believe that organized religion is the only answer, but people had better find something or they will be vulnerable. More importantly, we need to stop attacking those who use organized religion to satisfy this need. The overly aggressive and politically correct anti-religious movement that has dominated American culture in recent decades is doing us great harm. Sadly, atheism seems to have become a religion of its own, one that is highly intolerant. Indeed, the persecution of religious identity almost seems like a obscene turnabout of the Inquisition...
