It definitely attacks the problem from a different angle. The challenge is on.Response by LTC Kevin B. made Oct 16 at 2015 2:30 PM2015-10-16T14:30:46-04:002015-10-16T14:30:46-04:00LTC Private RallyPoint Member1045437<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I agree with this article. I think a huge problem with social media is the fact that people plug in and connect on there versus actual human interaction via talking to someone face to face or over the phone. Pull your head up from contact with your mobile device, and have a conversation with someone around you.Response by LTC Private RallyPoint Member made Oct 16 at 2015 3:26 PM2015-10-16T15:26:19-04:002015-10-16T15:26:19-04:00LCDR Private RallyPoint Member1045477<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I like it...addresses (at least part of) the problem and sincerely explains why every other approach would fail. <br /><br />The part I don't agree with is removing the fact that it isn't just being an "awkward loner" that leads to massacre...it's being an awkward, evil, demented loner lacking empathy or responsibility. <br /><br />I was that "quiet, awkward kid sitting in a corner"...caught hell when I was a kid. At some point, I realized some of that...a lot of it actually...was me, not "them". I took it upon myself to reach out, make friends, be "part of something". But I didn't do it alone; I had a no-nonsense father who got involved the first time he saw a problem. He pushed me, guided me, sometimes forcibly...but never cruelly...to be better than people expected me to be. <br /><br />I think the author hits it on the head...but stops short of pointing out that it "take a village"...it takes an example.Response by LCDR Private RallyPoint Member made Oct 16 at 2015 3:41 PM2015-10-16T15:41:42-04:002015-10-16T15:41:42-04:00SGT Christopher Churilla1045498<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I think the title is spot on. In today's fast-paced and electronically connected society, the trouble of interacting with a stranger is borderline terrifying for people, not to mention all the hard work it takes.Response by SGT Christopher Churilla made Oct 16 at 2015 3:47 PM2015-10-16T15:47:10-04:002015-10-16T15:47:10-04:00PO3 Sherry Thornburg1051981<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I wrote something similar when the last shooting happened.
