Thinking about dropping a recruiter packet. What are some pros/cons from your experiences?

Gameplan/plan A: ETS from the army in my state of choice if I get it. While recruiting, I will get my foot in the door with the local populace/work force
If I do not get the state if choice/ plan B: embrace the suck, and enroll in college.
Plan A: florida
Plan B: using the map, Tennessee or somewhere in the south

*Married with no kids, none on the way or in the distant future*

Also, been an e5 for 2 years. I have 2 years left on current contract.
I have 0 UCMJ actions, no tattoos, debts to a serious degree, basically the packet would be quick and simple (in theory)

You're putting a LOT of faith in USAREC giving you the exact spot you want. Just because you volunteer does NOT guarantee you get wherever you want. There were many people in my Recruiter course who Volunteered and were getting wazoo assignments. A guy literally volunteered thinking he'd get his choice of Florida....they assigned him Jackson, Michigan. You could end up ANYWHERE. Montana, Vermont, Arizona, Iowa....

PS I was in 1/33 when we created it. Beast Troop (well Bastard Troop originally), Rakkasan!

I was selected and got my first choice in Battalion, and Company and second choice in station so I won't complain. Harrisburg Recruiting BN, Carlisle Co, Hanover PA. Not bad, not sure how the South East is but, good luck and you have a plan.
