Our new guys have no confidence in her leadership as she was recently promoted to Cpl. Anyone in a similar position or heard of such occurances? Im all for females soldiers who can pull their own weight but when someone has to complain their way to the top, this isnt right and our nco's are just gassing her up so to speak and I do not understand why. As they say, a person will rise to the level of their incompetence and at some point, the unit's performance is going to suffer that she is going to be held responsible, as would any other in her position. I would try & support and not deliberately sabotage her. If the team has to 'carry her' to the unit's detriment you would be justified in tactfully taking it up the COC but make sure you have yr ducks in order else you be stepped on pretty hard. Do your job and get promoted. Quit complaining. Nobody owes you a thing. Get off your @$$ and work for it.

I was promoted to E-7 in 13 years. A "fast tracker" in my MOS. Some SMs in my MOS have a case of "sour grapes" because of my quick promotion. However, I took the hard assignments, took the hard positions and went to the hard schools. I did what I needed to do to advance. I recently met up with my old instructor form ALC. I was an E-5 and he was a E-6 at the time. Now I am an E-7 and he is still an E-6. I tell you this not to gloat or demean him but as example of what it takes to get promoted. I have had an unconventional career as far as SMs in MOS go but, I did what I had to do to set myself apart.

If you are unhappy with your current situation I suggest you do something to set yourself apart from the crowd and earn some stripes. If it is not illegal, immoral or unethical... draw fire and move out. SFC Private RallyPoint Member Thu, 28 Jul 2016 03:47:32 -0400 2016-07-28T03:47:32-04:00 2016-07-27T14:36:18-04:00
