TDY to Ft Carson soon, what is there to do? How's the fitness center? Any Crossfit affiliates in the area?

If you've never done the incline I highly recommend it if you're in the CrossFit this will definitely challenge you last time I was there I stayed at a Residence Inn close to the airport and they had an affiliation with a CrossFit gym a couple miles away that you could use as long as you were staying at the hotel

How do you know when some one crossfits? When the first thing they ask is about crossfit.

Carson has several fitness centers. McKibbon has a Crossfit area. Get there early. Think they open at 0500. PT hours it will be packed. You may want to look at Garcia, which will also be jammed, may have a bigger area. Peterson AFB has a Crossfit area as well. US AFA has a small Crossfit area.

Do you have a read on where you are staying ? Different parts of town, different craft breweries, different local spots

They have Ironhorse gym which opened in 2013 which is really nice! McKibben will be your gym to go to if you want wooden Olympic platforms. Everything is relatively close on post so its all easy to find. Outside of post the Incline is awesome as well as Garden of the Gods. There's a lot of trails to run there.

You have all of the ones that were mentioned on the Installations, and trust me, there a lot that are off post as well. Just make sure you can handle the elevation.

Climb 14ers, go skiing/snowboarding, mountain biking, Spartan Races, golf on Carson and at the AF Academy, go to the MWR Center and check out their deals and packages.
