I go to school from June- Aug and PCS end of Sept. I have 2 kids (6,3)and am married so anywhere relatively family friendly would be nice too. Also any advice on what to expect would be great too. <br />**Note** I know someone’s gonna ask about preferences I have but I wanna hear about personal experience, my family wants to see new places so “close to home” is not a factor for me.Tasked to go to recruiting school. What are some recommendations on areas I should request and what areas to avoid?2019-03-12T12:15:27-04:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member4441890<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I know when you arrive you get to submit a “wish list” and was just looking at getting some recommendations from any past recruiters about their experiences. However, I think that each region of the US offers separate challenges compared to the others. Some locations have an issue with propensity to join (as we did in Nebraska). Others have issues with moral waivers or kids that can't pass the ASVAB. I would say, in general, that the recruiting companies and stations in or near larger cities tend to fare a little better than the rural companies. Many of my compatriots have said the south east part of the US is pretty good in terms of making volume, albeit at somewhat of a cost in "quality". That isn't to say that prospects there aren't quality folks, just that they tend to trend a little lower on the ASVAB on average. I hope your upcoming experience in recruiting is better than mine was. It was the low point of my career. Good luck.Response by COL Jason Woodford made Mar 12 at 2019 3:33 PM2019-03-12T15:33:08-04:002019-03-12T15:33:08-04:00SFC J Fullerton4442467<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Do some research on where the top producing places are, and where the worst producing places are. 2nd Bde is in the South, and is traditionally the top producing Bde and region. 1st Bde is the Northeast and usually struggles. 3rd Bde is the Midwest, and does okay on occasion with a lot of effort, with the exception of Minneapolis Bn which is traditionally one of the worst in the nation. If I were you, I would base my preferences on propensity to enlist and history of high production and avoid places that are historically low producers and low propensity to enlist. Remember, on recruiting duty, your quality of life (stress level, daily hours, and occasional Saturdays off) is dictated by production, not the amenities in your area.Response by SFC J Fullerton made Mar 12 at 2019 3:36 PM2019-03-12T15:36:35-04:002019-03-12T15:36:35-04:001SG Private RallyPoint Member4442662<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I have been in USAREC for almost 8 years I will give advise shoot me a message if you want. We work with regular recruiting centers as well but they are totally different from us. I’d say that the south does pretty well across the board. We get at least 50 calls a day from people looking to join the Army but they’ve called our office by mistake. Making your mission is what really makes life easier for you. So, if you can get something down here I can see it being a pretty good life for you and your family. If you’re able to get into AMEDD recruiting, that would be awesome as well. They typically only have to put in a few people per year due to the population being older and the credentials that people have to have in order to direct commission. As of right now, they don’t have to build their applicants packets either. They have civilians who do just that so all that you as the recruiter will do is focus on prospecting and bringing them people to process. It really depends on how much you want to be involved in those things. In Chaplain recruiting it’s a balance. We cover the entire Southeast portion of the country including PR and the VI so it’s definitely nice being able to go TDY and visit places to prospect. Recruiting is a beast, I can tell you that so if you have some sort of control over where you go, make be sure to know what you’re getting into!Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 12 at 2019 10:15 PM2019-03-12T22:15:59-04:002019-03-12T22:15:59-04:00CW2 Private RallyPoint Member4445178<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>They do take demographics into account in assignments as well, not too many white guys in Atlanta or Camden for recruiting. So keep that in mind. You can also try to trade with people. Biggest hint for it and call USAREC G1 now to do it. See if there is a SORB assignment available, we do have detailed recruiters here and itll be way better than NPS recruiting.<br />The ARC is an incredibly easy course if you can navigate an AR or two. Bring your drinking legs too because its a massive party for 7 weeks. Bring your car or you're stuck with taxis or someone elses car.Response by CW2 Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 13 at 2019 11:50 AM2019-03-13T11:50:51-04:002019-03-13T11:50:51-04:00CW4 Craig Urban4445248<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Stay away from CaliforniaResponse by CW4 Craig Urban made Mar 13 at 2019 12:12 PM2019-03-13T12:12:25-04:002019-03-13T12:12:25-04:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member4708558<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Yo I got recruiting school from 24june to 9Aug.
