Suppose someone OTHER than Donald Trump is sworn in on 1-20-17. What will be the fallout?

If electors opt to NOT vote for The Donald--and there is a concerted effort to get them to do just that--or he simply decides he'd rather go back to being a tycoon rather than being POTUS, whatever, it is not Donald Trump who will be sworn in on Inauguration Day, aside from many (but not all) on the right being angry and near universally the left happy to the point of orgasm, what happens then?

They'll never be able to turn enough electors. Trump will take the seat Jan 20. But, in a magical world? Severity of the response depends on who they put in. Hillary? I can see armed, violent protests nationwide...perhaps approaching the level of CW2. Ryan? Probably not nearly as widespread or violent. Stein? Who knows.

Absolutely, it would raise a Constitutional crisis. Probably, it would lead to civil unrest. Possibly, it would result in civil war. In all of these cases, the military would have to step cautiously, especially if the Command-in-Chief attempts to use it to intervene on behalf of the usurper.

Don't know. If they were stupid enough to put HRC in office, then I would expect mass revolt (armed) with takeover and overthrow of the Government in mind. If he were to pass away (peacefully, not from assassination) then the VP elect would take over and choose a new VP.

These are scary times. I hope our military does NOT get caught up in this. We, as a country CAN survive almost ANYONE for 4 years. We can NOT afford, monetarily or morally to start a war with ourselves. If that were to happen, foreign governments will definitely eliminate us in the name of ALLAH (although they would really be doing it for greed and hate).

Too many unknowns there, if it was Pence instead of Trump, a lot of noise, but not a lot of bang. If it was Clinton instead of Trump, it would be ugly. Clinton's private positions were always the positions of Goldman-Sachs and big money, she's not a liberal... even though she sometimes plays one on TV.

I think we are facing Constitutional questions-like Trump's business handling overseas and his family being involved in BOTH transition and his Corporate handlings. What is being hid by NOT disclosing taxes? Bankruptcies, Money sheltering overseas? Who knows folks, but I am hoping that BEFORE anything is formally completed that the Houses of Congress do A LOT of research before handing him the 'keys to our nation' in any form. This election to me was about 'smearing the other's name' and NOT about the true issues. Clinton had baggage, Trump is to me an immature child that if given too much will DESTROY everything in a tantrum style rage and it seems to me that NOT all states are choosing the POTUS because the 'electoral power' is in the hands of the larger states and seems that only 15 choose and 2 decide the nominees. This is wrong- I say terminate Primaries, if you are running-stay in until the General Election like they did in the earlier times. Again, there are just too many Constitutional questions that need to be answered and we do not need Civil War-what we need is LOGIC and Trump is not the one to give this: he is too soft skinned and knows NOTHING but bullying, egocentric and narcissistic tendencies from what I have seen (I am a mother of 3 and seen all levels of tantrums and some of the men I served with were childish, but the majority were very mature at such a young age). For our nation-maybe this time we need to 'Pull a Hayes' and place someone qualified in office that is mentally stable and mature enough to handle the World Stage with logic and stability.

Nothing. I don't see any big issues with the EV. Trump won and he gets sworn in. Absolutely has never occurred....anytime in our history so why would it happen now? The vote recounts are a waste of time and money. Semper Fi.

Doubt it will happen. The opposition are starting to understand that Trump won. They are starting to settle down. Trump is already doing a good job. Even if some electors do not vote as wished by the people, it should be OK. Many states, like Michigan, have rules that say if they do not vote the way the people wanted, they are dismissed and another elector will be put in place. I doubt 33 of these folks will turn. IF it does happen, there will be violence. The people spoke. Trump won. We will see if he does a good job or not.
