Thank you and I agree! It just seems crazy to me that they are not held to any kind of standard - if I worked like they do I would be fired right away! They are supposed to help us but it doesn't seem like they are doing that as of late. I have read so many articles about back logs and such that it is a shame. I even read the other day that there are deaths linked to their inability to provide services in a timely manner to veterans. Something needs to change...

SFC Dees,
I read your story and signed it straight away.
I'm sorry that you have to deal with this mess.

I am so sorry that you are experiencing this, this is a political situation therefore it does not matter what is right. Unfortunately in political situations, sometimes it becomes a power trip that someone is pulling.
I also commend you for doing the right thing with your son. Thank you for being a good mother when you did not have to be. He is a blessed boy.

I have learned the hard way :) That is why I am pushing this bill through congress. If my son can never use it and I just help one other family then I will feel better. I have been paying for this education that he didn't receive but I would be happier if I could give him money to help out with his current college loans. My son and I have been through so much with my career but I am not going to let the VA ruin his future so he IS going to college!

SFC Dees,
I signed the petition and shared it on a couple facebook groups I'm in that I'm sure plenty others will sign. I hope it all works out in your favor.

Remember to always read the fine print. Especially with the VA, they are there to provide the least service they can to our veterans.

I would have no problem reading the fine print if there was any to read SFC Alcivar... The only thing I was told was that I had to reenlist indef to transfer my benefit to him. I read all the FAQ sheets and all they said was that it had to be a dependant child on my DEERS. He satisfied that requirement for a number of years.... If I had the time to read every USC I would, I have actually educated myself about a lot of different things in the USC since this has come up. There are so many hidden laws that nobody even knows about unless you know where to look.....

Definitely the short end of the stick with this one, and its BS that you are being the one left holding the bill. Signed, hopefully we can right this.

Thanks for signing :) My son is actually the one left holding the bill but I take personal responsibility for trusting the DOD's approval letter and sending him off to school. He is in college now, so we are footing that bill as well because it is gonna take a while for the bill to make it through congress so we don't know if he will ever be able to use it. This has been pure madness! Again, thanks for you support!

I came here from Katterbach too, haha. I love the area but the job comes with a lot of politics.... You'll see. It's not too bad. There is definitely plenty to do and I know you miss regular TV and commercials! I remember coming back from Germany and just being happy to see all the commercials on TV instead of the AFN ones, lol

Yea, definitely. Im not real happy about going back to Eustis, but this is a career move for me, and it wasn't about what I wanted.

I signed it. I always hated when someone somewhere screwed up but I had to pay for it. Hope this works out for you. Posted it to FaceBook too.
