Stolen Valor at the O-6 Level? This is a new one for me...

I have not stopped laughing at this one...this guy is soooo full of horse hockey it isn't even funny. I cannot speak to the other branches of the service, but in the Army, Rule #1 at any bar is you NEVER lay your cap on the bar or else you'll be buying a round of drinks for EVERYONE...so you don't see any Army personnel going near to a bar with their caps in hand because they may have an accident. LOL. And the most painfully obvious indicator that this guy is a fake is his physique. He's a bit more rolly-polly than your typical O-6 in ANY branch of the military. In fact, he wouldn't cut it as an E-1 either. But I digress...his story is so funny...and he tells it with such conviction as though he actually believe it. This boy is in la-la-land and got that physique lifting weights 12 oz at a time, be it steaks or beer, or even chocolates...or any combination thereof. ;)

What a bunch of bs...I acknowledge the right to be able to do whatever but at what point do we say enough is enough. Stolen valor seems to be occurring more and more every day. I feel like there should be more repercussions for behavior like this. But I'll put up with it because that's their right...

As far as his obvious girth goes... This reminds me of a guy I saw way back in the day on MySpace when it was cool and relevant.

He claimed to be a Ranger and had posted his profile picture with a beret on, but I forget the color he wore. Hey... this was a long time ago when MySpace was still actually cool.

But I digress.

Clue one that he wasn't a Ranger was the extremely cheesy goatee this guy was sporting.

Clue two that he wasn't a Ranger was the pudgy face that sported that extremely cheesy goatee he was sporting.

He had posted the profile on MySpace claiming he was a Ranger who was being deployed to Iraq. He was asking for all sorts of free stuff (to include books and video games) to take with him to help him through his "deployment".

Several of us complained to MySpace, who suspended his account.

I think if I ever encounter someone like this in person, I will whip out my retired ID card to show them and then ask to see their ID card...and in that location, once he did not produce a valid ID card I would make a very LOUD announcement to everyone in the bar that "THE COLONEL IS BUYING DRINKS FOR EVERYONE!" because he laid his cap on the bar. :D Sorry, but I don't think I could tolerate this in person. I could NEVER have been as cool as the guy who made the video...and maybe that's a character flaw on my own part. But for some reason I just don't give a rip. HAHAHA.

Thanks for sharing this. I see those frauds on the Stolen Valor website all the time, but this guy really believes his lies. He is truly invested in his lie. Wow. People like this make me laugh. I mean seriously, we in the military have a brotherhood/sisterhood like no other. We clown on each other, respect each other and will give our life for each other if need be. We have all been through varying types of training and experiences. Too see someone that has the audacity to try an insert themselves into our way of life, without the guts to write that blank check, makes me sick.

We military personnel have a respect for the person in the uniform that cant be explained. We have and/or are around those in uniform for years, some people have been for decades. When something on that uniform doesn't look right, it stands out like a sore thumb. If one of my Airmen is wearing their uniform incorrectly, you better believe it will be addressed. I don't do it solely because its part of the regulation, I do it for those who have come before me and for those that will follow. (That sounds ate up, I know)

I truly cant believe the audacity these people have, to slap a bunch of patches and pins on a uniform they found and then proceed to claim to be in our world.
