Stay a 25B or swap to 25D?

17 years in, E7 25B, thinking about swapping to 25D... whats your opinions?

For me that would depend on what I was planning on doing once I retired.

Are you planning on staying in after 20?
What are your reasons for wanting to go 25D?

I am in a similar situation but do not have as many years in. I am first trying the Warrant route and if that goes south then I might try 25D.

Last I heard (Dec 2017) while I was at Gordon for SLC, they were going to cancel the 25D mos.
This was directly from the MSG and SMG that build the courses fror MOS’s.
The plan was that all 25B’s would get a refresher course for the additional training the D’s get (comsec, don’t remember if SANs stuff was in there as well) and that a few other 25 series would convert to B’s as well.

But hey, if you have the time to go to it, sure, why not. Easy vacation at Gordon. If you are reserves or guard, you better have a top notch admin guy as it is not easy for either device to get a slot.
The school house really don’t like giving up slots to the guards or reserves... playing the “oh you need this or that paperwork” or some other run around. In Minnesota, we only have 1 guy I know for a fact completed the course, and was a nightmare for him to get a slot... think there might be another as well, but not sure

Other than certs its a complete waste of time. Been a 25D for 2 years and Information Assurance (which can be done as a 25B) is as good as its been.

I did it bro and it was a waste of time. I received some good certs and great training, as far as work I was still a 25B.
