It was the only newspaper I had access to when stationed overseas (Okinawa) besides the Japanese ones, which looked like a lot of chicken scratch to me. It (Stars & Stripes) was always behind, but then again, so were the football games, I always enjoyed the articles and sports section. I made sure my family knew not to call and tell me the outcome of the games or it would ruin it knowing who won before the game started. To be honest, I was lucky enough to be assigned to AFN TV and had access to the newswires and photofax machines. We had three TV casts every day and AFN radio had news on the hour. (This was back when there was one TV channel and one AM and one FM radio station.) But, back to Stripes... I look at it almost every day online these days. I do recall referring to it as "Yesterdays news tomorrow" sometimes though.
