SFC Private RallyPoint Member1214310<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Promoted to SSG in June. I was an Assistant operations NCO for a year and I conducted and intra brigade move in October and now am assigned as training room NCO. There are 4 other NCO's here. If I complete the next year in the training room it will be two years since I have been rated as a medic. I have already spoken to my Career Advisor but since I am locked in until January 2017 he cant do anything. Just want to find out what affect this will have on my promotion to SFC. And if it is negative, what can I do?SSG 68W. Just finished a year as S-3 NCO and now assigned as Training Room NCO. How will this affect promotion to SFC?2016-01-04T13:14:42-05:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member1214310<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Promoted to SSG in June. I'm sorry I don't have an answer but I hope we get some good info here. I'll get back to you of I find something.Response by CPT Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 4 at 2016 1:17 PM2016-01-04T13:17:37-05:002016-01-04T13:17:37-05:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member1214653<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>This shouldn't be an issue unless it extends past the two year mark. If you read the board AAR's they usually say that working outside your MOS over two years is looked at unfavorably. You'll still need to get that E6 rated medic time to be competitive for promotion.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 4 at 2016 4:04 PM2016-01-04T16:04:26-05:002016-01-04T16:04:26-05:00MSG Jamie Coleman1215293<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Have you had any time pushing Troops? or any time at a Medical Center?Response by MSG Jamie Coleman made Jan 4 at 2016 9:22 PM2016-01-04T21:22:38-05:002016-01-04T21:22:38-05:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member1223832<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>SSG, you need to get to FSH and train/lead some troops. AIT PSG or instructor/writer will enhance/broaden your career with expected promotion. Call your special duty assignment manager.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 8 at 2016 5:39 PM2016-01-08T17:39:00-05:002016-01-08T17:39:00-05:00MSG Private RallyPoint Member1268538<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I am a retired MSG, I will tell you that it will help not hurt. It will be a normal progression for you to move into a more administrative position as you move forward. This is just one of the avenues that you can use in moving your career forward. It does not have to always be in the medical setting. Being more rounded in THE like positions as well as TBA positions make you more valuable and helps separate yourself from your peers. I would also recommend that battle staff course would be beneficial to you as well. The last statement that I saw, of all the battle staff positions only 6% were battle staff qualified. It's a great course and will help separate yourself from your peers. Good Luck. Working outside of your MOS and doing well is a great thing. You are moving up, so admin duties will become the norm now. Just do well in every position you are placed in and there shouldn't be an issue.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made May 9 at 2020 11:50 AM2020-05-09T11:50:57-04:002020-05-09T11:50:57-04:002016-01-04T13:14:42-05:00
