Should there be an independent special prosecutor appointed to investigate Clinton, Obama and the FBI over the mishandling of classified emails?

FBI Director Comey is a republican who during the Bush administration was the Deputy Attorney General for the US. When the Attorney General was ill in the hospital, he served as acting AG. In that capacity he refused to sign off on Bush's illegal wiretapping program. Bush tried to go around him by sending his Chief of Staff to the hospital to get the ailing AG to sign off on it. The attempt failed. So Bush met in person with Comey and made adjustments to the wiretap program to get it signed off on by Comey.

So you have a republican Deputy AG with the moral courage to stand up to the political pressure from a republican president, who now serves as the Director of the FBI. So who exactly does anyone think a republican House would appoint who would be more independent of poltical ties than that? The answer is no one. The whole notion of an "independent" prosecutor selected by a partisan political body is a joke.

The repubs simply want to keep the Hillary investigations going until after the election. That's what they did with the absurdly long Benghazi investigation, which took far longer than congressional investigations into the 9/11 attacks and the Iraq War. Talk of a special prosecutor is simply more campaign bullshit by the republicans who can see that their chances of winning the White House are fading into the far distance each day Trump continues to open his mouth. They are realizing that the high school level name calling and retweeting about internet conpiracy theories that worked so well on the republican base in the primaries don't cut it with the rest of the population, who can easily see through that BS.

Are you comfortable standing or supporting Clinton for POTUS? Is she trustworthy in your opinion? Has she proven she has the qualifications and is beyond reproach to fill the position? And yes Trump is an idiot I understand that.

MSgt (Join to see) - I think both candidates have serious flaws. While it may seem that I am a Hillary supporter by my posts, it is not because I am a big fan of hers. Rather, my interest (being a retired PSYOPer) is more along the lines of how mis and dis information is used in political campaigns. Here on RP, there are far more threads where people post absolute, obviously false bullshit about Hillary and Obama, and try and pass them off as facts. So my posts tend to focus on debunking the BS. Most of it is so blantantly stupid that I think no one will believe it, but then a certain group of posters respond to it as true.

A simple example is the thread about how an admiral was fired by Obama because he revealed that Obama bought a mansion vacation home in the UAE to live in after his term is up. You would think that anyone would immediately see how rediculous that premise is, but no, people jump on it. Or more to the topic of this thread, go back and look at the dozens of Hillary email threads started breathlessly declaring that the FBI is definitely going to recommend indictment, and the FBI Director will resign if the AG doesn't support him. All were based on RW pundits carefully avoiding citing any real sources, and just giving an out of their ass statement to stir up the base.

Overall, I think Hillary will do a better job than Trump. She has way more experience in government matters, and actually knows what's going on in the world. As for the idea that she is somehow less trustworthy than Trump, consider this. Trump announced that he had sent a team of private investigators to HI and they found significant evidence that Obama was not born there. Yet to this day, he had never produced any of that evidence, nor even revealed the name of the PI team he sent. Now, he absolutely refuses to discuss the issue at all. He also told an audience that he "knows more about ISIS than the generals, believe me" and they laughed at him. And he just said "no, it's true, trust me". Does anyone really believe Trump is a singular expert on ISIS?

If one is selecting a president on the basis of how they reveiw evidence and facts and make decisions, how could anyone vote for someone who could get something as simple as Obama's birthplace wrong? So either he is an idiot who cannot comprehend the facts before him, or he is a con man willing to say anything to anybody in order to get what he wants. His campaign to date suggests the later. He even told the farmers in CA that there really isn't a drought, and he will "turn the water back on".

If the evidence does not fit the parameters of a criminal charge then so be it. So no, I do not believe a special prosecutor should be hired to waste more tax payer dollars. The FBI did conclude that classified information was passed by non-secure means. That the State Department was careless in they're handling of information. Now it is up to the public to decide if Hillary Clinton is trustworthy and has proven she is beyond reproach to fill the position of POTUS. Is she really the best choice to lead this country to prosperity?

I think the support for both Trump and Sanders shows the disconnect between the Washington Cartel and the people.

There comes a point where it becomes a pointless witch hunt (no pun intended). That would only add fuel to the fire that the GOP is to out get her, and turn more voters against them and for her. She got the FBI to basically call her an incompetent and negligent idiot, leave at that and let the voters decide.

Should there be? Of course. A political appointee should not be investigating, nor deciding on charges of your personal choice for a political spot, a person you owe your current and future political position to.
Will there be a special prosecutor appointed, no not likley.

LOL! You're funny. I'm also a Black Conservative Christian. I'm not a fan of president Obama due to his politics. He and Hillary have a lot in common. By the way, you'd be surprised at how many Blacks don't agree with him. I voted for him because I thought that he was going to bring change...and he did...the WRONG kind of change.

SFC Teresa Threatts And I apologize for my humorous attempt, it's not even reality for who i am...
Color is something I see and choose for my helmet, car, truck, motocycle, something i notice in my daughter in law's hair, what i see in a nice sunset.
Color is not what I noticed when I looked at you as a person, Soldier or self admitted mistaken voter....lol
Thank you for reading that post as intended....a bit of light hearted humor in a tragedy being played out in our political world we live in today.

SGM, I was never offended at all. I like your sense of humor...I "saw" your sarcasm, so we're good. I have thick-skin anyway! :-) Yeah, we have to find something to laugh at. This election can't come and go fast enough! Take care, SGM!!

If anyone believes that they would have not been charges and jailed for the exact transgressions that were committed then I am comfortable with the answer no. However, it is my believe that if any of us on RP had done the the same we would be wearing prison orange.
