There is just too much history of violence, and human rights abuses for the people of the South to want to live under the iron fist of the Northern government. <br /><br />In a related story, I heard a news report two days ago which explained that the family reunion program was only a temporary measure. The Koreas agreed to two meetings of family members separated by the border. After those visits there are no more plans for this to happen again, or for this to become an "open border" situation.
