Nice story, SGT Jim Z.. I did that shooting thing as a member of the Old Guard in 1978/1979 - with SFC Boots Attaway - so this story resonates with me. I have felt the "brotherhood" of veterans more (much more) since joining RallyPoint. I think it's because of the site in general, all the great members, and then stories and discussions like these.

This is a great example of some true patriots still serving selflessly. Fills me with pride seeing great stories like this patriot that continue to serve. They are a national treasure!

I wish I could honor him by being a member of his Firing Party. CW5 Private RallyPoint Member did this plenty of times in Arlington National Cemetery. Monty was only there a little over a year but I was there for 3.5 years and pulled 375 funerals. This detail was divided between 5 different platoons. I remember doing as many as 7 funerals in one day but each one was an honor to do.
