I take it as if you have a certain type of hair that prevents you from parting your hair naturally then a straight line can be cut in the area where the natural part would be. Or does it mean everyone can cut a line where the part should be?

As far as I am concerned, If their hair cut looks professional, then the cut part should be fine. If it is faddish, then provide the soldier with the reasoning and the difference between the two styles and have him get it fixed to meet the standard.

I have horse bristle brush hair. If I were to get a part it would have to be cut in, because I have to have hippie hair before I could get it part otherwise. Buzzy clipper with no guard once a week is my hair style instead.
