Soldier was incorrectly overcharged for leave, what form or procedures must be done IOT to get this fixed? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/soldier-was-incorrectly-overcharged-for-leave-what-form-or-procedures-must-be-done-iot-to-get-this-fixed

I have a soldier who took a week of leave, he was overcharged by 14 days and is trying to get the situation fixed. Our S1 told him he needed a leave reimbursement form, and instead of giving an example or the form number, told him to kick rocks.

I have searched online, did google searches and checked AR 600-8-10 and didn’t find anything relevant. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Usually if the Soldier is incorrectly charged for leave the S1 - who submitted the info to charge them - submits supporting documents to fix it. Talk to the S1 NCOIC. If they push you off, head over to the IG with proof of your Soldiers actual leave days that were taken. They will instruct your S1 how to fix it SFC Private RallyPoint Member Tue, 04 May 2021 08:26:15 -0400 2021-05-04T08:26:15-04:00 Response by SSgt Christophe Murphy made May 4 at 2021 8:46 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/soldier-was-incorrectly-overcharged-for-leave-what-form-or-procedures-must-be-done-iot-to-get-this-fixed?n=6949296&urlhash=6949296

Sounds like a conversation to have with the S1 NCOIC. Probably an easy fix if you go to the right people. All you SHOULD need is the leave form showing ACTUAL leave dates (sign in / sign out) and LES showing charged leave.

If leave form doesn't have sign in / sign out (because an SDNCO or S1 was feeling lazy, or because SM lost it) try going through SDNCO / S1 leave log which should ALSO have time and date of sign-in / sign-out.

Arm your PSG with the above paperwork, and he *should* be able to "politely ask" S1 to fix the problem. If they don't, try a pay inquiry with finance. In fact if he has been overcharged it is the burden of the command to poroduce the document with which the Service Member took the alleged leave. I can't remember exactly. I had a soldier a couple years ago ended up not taking any block leave - but some S1 clerk signed him in and out of leave after block leave. I remember he did a form and I think he had to submit it a couple times because it first got lost at the company and then maybe at S1.

DA Form 2142 (it's on APD - Army Publishing Directorate under DA Forms) It has a section to check "leave" as the issue.

Section I - completed by soldier
Section II - completed by unit commander
Section III - completed by finance

Should be routed through your S1. You will have to provide supporting documentation with it.

That's all I could find on this and I wish I could remember what we all submitted for my former soldier. I don't have the emails anymore. But I think he eventually got the leave days back.
