This soldier puts these citizens in their place when he hears them laughing around the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The group of people laughing are brought to complete and utter silence after the soldiers demand!

This honorable serviceman reminds us all of the respect we owe those who have sacrificed themselves for our freedoms.

I agree that this is an excellent thing to remind us all of the importance to maintain respect and honor. What I'm going to say next probably won't agree with a lot of members. The sad thing is that in order to do this the guard has broken his vow and his duty. If you research the details of of the guard you will find that it is a very strict and honorable duty. One that doesn't permit deviation from the duty that is in trusted to the individual. It is not taken lightly when one deviates from the instructions. It is definitely not my wish to bring anger to anyone on this matter but by speaking the guard has failed to follow his order and oath of silence no matter the reason he spoke for he has failed his post. Which can lead to his dismissal of the post. It is a sad catch 22 that should be fixed to permit for such an action.

The disrespect, rudeness, general don't care about anybody but me attitude evident everywhere nowadays is because no one ever slapped their ears (or beat their ass), when they were young! When I back out of a parking stall, I do so slowly, I cannot believe the drivers that have no father who race behind my moving car!

I once got asked to leave for putting a group of teens in check at the tomb. Because they wouldn't stop grab assing, guess they should of paid attention to the guy in uniform right behind them. Everyone else Thanked me on their way out...Respect!!!!!!!

Maybe he was directed to "break this vow" because they felt the crowds were becoming to non-respectful. Lets get all the facts before passing any judgments. This guard DID the RIGHT thing.

I saw this video awhile ago and it motivated me to gather more information on the unit. Their duty is quite possibly above all reproach when it comes to service and I'm accounting for all units who work in a high profile area (even those behind the scenes). I respect this detail greatly and salute all of those who have guarded the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
