I do like data and other information because I love to conduct research Sgt Aaron Kennedy, MS. Thank you for sharing the article while indicated Gun homicide rate is down 49% since the 1993 peak.
I was interested to see if the Pew researchers would attempt to posit cause and effect.
"Researchers have studied the decline in firearm crime and violent crime for many years, and though there are theories to explain the decline, there is no consensus among those who study the issue as to why it happened.
There also is debate about the extent of gun ownership in the U.S., although no disagreement that the U.S. has more civilian firearms, both total and per capita, than other nations. Compared with other developed nations, the U.S. has a higher homicide rate and higher rates of gun ownership, but not higher rates for all other crimes."

and the newest data? Violence had skyrocketed! while they are calling for gun "control". lol Maybe there is a relationship there needed to study between gun control and homicide rate increase.lol

This is great historical data for those interested in knowing what is actually happening which excludes most in the media.

One trend I have been reading about lately is that while crime and gun crimes are down overall, there is large increase in many larger cities such as Detroit, Chicago, Baltimore, LA and a few others. If you adjust for those it is much lower still.

This study and others like it are suppressed by those who have a vested interest in the popular narrative wherein guns and gun owners are inherently evil. Even the Pope has gotten in on the act: No gun owner can be a Christian and those who manufacture guns are among the most evil. Data that contradicts the narrative is dismissed as heresy and those who utter it blasphemers. I wouldn't worry about it overmuch. I keep in mind that those who would disarm us have already disarmed themselves. They have neither knowledge or weapons to fight us. Ain't it grand?

There is no such thing as "gun violence". What we are really talking is criminal violence. NO statistic shows that the mere presence of guns causes higher crime rates. Quite the opposite. The statistics bear it out, and I have seen it myself.

statistics also show that cities and states where there is the strictest gun laws also have higher crime rates and those with the least gun control have the lowest rates. the 4 cities you state have high crime rates also have the strictest gun laws. and it has been shown in more than one study by more then one research group.
