The fiesta plates they had in Guam are awesome no matter where you are. Most eateries "Americanize" their food. That's why there's seldom decent regional Mexican, French, German, or SE Asia stuff. A new Mexican place opened up here in Bonners Ferry and it is only slightly better than the abomination by the school. I never got too much into Moroccan food so wouldn't go to one here either. The absolute worst Mexican place is in Christchurch NZ. The smell 20 feet from the door sends you away.<br /><br />Speaking of Mexican, Rosa's of Santa Fe sets the standard. The only really good dish there was Paella (the national dish of Spain ), and I have never found anything similar at home. As for the food on the submarine, I just can't afford to eat that good in restaurants at home. Our off-duty time was spent in Charleston, SC, and our cooks were always trying out new dishes to add to their luxury restaurant menus where they worked while the other crew had the boat.
