To place in the intended context, this was obviously directed to the more conservative and/or Christian acquaintances half (probably more like 3/5) I associate with. The same context could be applied to the opposite type of person if they were to root for sanders, but are both "never hillary" and "never Trump". The context I was aiming for was what is the moral obligation in an individuals mind as it pertains for their opinion of the greater good in the long term for the country and/or their own descendents. So without further delay here is what I shared.
____________________
So now more than one person has asked me to the effect of "now what?" when it comes to Trump inevitably being the candidate to go against Hillary (because let's be honest, Sanders doesn't have a chance and he's looking almost as pathetic as Kasich is at this point). Not so much asking for my advise but rather as a point of conversation, but a few are really just "I can't vote for that guy". That guy being Trump. So, here's my opinion, so as to consolidate my thoughts for the few of you who could just marginally give a shit what I think.

I perfectly understand the "moral objection" to casting a defeated vote for Trump. To cast a vote for Trump however, is hardly support for him. All over radio and TV you have people who were Cruz/Carson/whoever supporters now saying they're voting for Hillary because they just can't vote for Trump. They're angry, dissapointed, and see him as the vile bag of hot air that he is. Let's "pan out" and take a look at a bigger picture though.

We can fixate on a single choice we make in an election booth and proclaim that to be our moral outcry to make a statement against....nobody. NOBODY is looking at your vote as a statement. The last mid-term elections proved that thoroughly. Back to the bigger picture though. Trump is a giant pile of crap in many ways. In many other ways he makes some very true statments about some issues. How much he actually believes what he's saying as opposed to pandering to increase an excited audience is tough to identify though. He's literally agreed with Hillary on every major topic at some point in his life. The flip flop is strong in this one.

Scratch all that, and let me get to the point. In my opinion, a moral opposition to a single temporary entity is tiny when compared to the greater moral obligation one must feel for the future of this COUNTRY and their CHILDREN.

*******In my opinion, a write-in, a vote for the opposing party because your guy didn't get the nomination, is PRIDEFUL (we know what Christ has to say about that), and to be perfectly honest LAZY (he has some things to say about that too). It is an easy way out, that allows one to console themselves in saying they "did something". That's SELFISH (also something Christ doesn't have a lot of good things to say about).

In considering your own resentment for ONE INDIVIDUAL, and THEIR actions, THEIR objectionable actions, THEIR detestful qualities, YOUR action then becomes angrily express YOURSELF at the voting both KNOWING full well that one less vote for him, is factually a vote margin gained for Hillary (or by some fluke the crazy white guy). That's YOU making a LAZY, PRIDEFUL, and SELFISH CHOICE, based on someone ELSES actions or charcter. To me, that seems like a scapegoat. An abdigation of your personal responsibilities. One that comes at the EXPENSE OF OTHERS in the future. Are you REALLY standing up for what you believe by not voting or writing someone in? Are you looking at a larger picture than your frustating towards a hot-aired orange?

We know through history, some simple math, common sense, and an objective thought processes that many of the "solutions" Hillary and Sanders offer only compound existing problems. Incredibly temporary fixes that have no long term effects that will actually HELP people (take Bush's tax breaks for example...no one got into a fortune 500 company because of those tax breaks). We know tom compound the problem, by adding another detrimental variable to existing variables that have created many of the problems we have today is "more of the same". We don't need more of the same guaranteed. Trump is....SOME of the same. The effects of his presidency should he not follow thorugh with the hot air he spews out (I've little to no expectations) will not be nearly as lasting or accelerative to our problems as those ideas, should they actually be implemented, that Hillary (and especially Sanders) have in mind.

I don't "support" Trump. While undoubtably the negative aspects of his charcter have been amplified by the media, as with anyone else, they're still there. I can't wrap my head around thinking him to be a Commander in Chief. Many like his "tell it like it is" nonsense and think that's leadership. General Mattis....Generals Patton, Petreaus, McCrystal also "tell it like it is". They do so with profeesional dignity and class however. They don't audition for reality television when they do. They are stern, forward, and LEAD. Trump simply does not have these qualities. His leadership is one that boasts that all will bend to his will. He's simply used to being the top rich guy whose ass everyone kisses. The geo-political world simply does not operate that way.

****In short, we, as a country, and future generations can survive Trump and maintain some, maybe just enough of the foundations of this country that made it a great country. With the other two, there's simply no turning back. Write-ins literally speak to NO ONE. Not one single individual anywhere is going to look at those write-ins and consider them the voice of the people. You say nothing with a write-in other than "I voted". Just because you "voted", doesn't make you a hero, especially knowing that vote didn't mean anything but probably benefit the greater of two evils, whichever that greater evil is to you.
_________________________________ CW3 Private RallyPoint Member Thu, 12 May 2016 00:04:48 -0400 2016-05-12T00:04:48-04:00 2016-05-11T07:41:58-04:00
