For leaders that don't spend a lot of time at a desktop, the app would serve as a an easier way to stay connected, respond more quickly to questions and messages on the go. When I am at my desk, there is work that needs to be done, but in the Army of "hurry up and wait", I often find myself with some downtime at a range, before a meeting, while waiting for others.
