Since there are a lot of police in the military, active duty and NG/Reserves. Is it true many police are active with the KKK?

I saw a post on here that stated most of the KKK is comprised of police officers. “Blue during the day, white at night” was the statement. I would like an answer from police officers to this question. I found it very insulting. It’s like people today that were never slaves blaming people that have never been a slave owner. We can’t change the past but we can work toward a better future for all.

To be honest I doubt that there are any significant number of KKK members in the police forces of the USA including tribal police on Indian reservations and military police my friend and brother-in-Christ MSG Darold R.
On the other hand, there are no doubt some white racists and black racists in various police forces - particularly urban areas for black racists and a wider dispersion of white racists.
Being prejudiced is not illegal. Of course, if politicians, judges, and or law enforcement agents rely on prejudice for or against individuals because of their inherent characteristics over facts that is wrong and probably illegal
The knights of the klu klux klan was formed by southern democrats during the post-Civil War reconstruction era. KKK had and no doubt is largely made up of southern democrats with some northern democrats.

I work in Law Enforcement for 38 years and never knew that any officer who, where in the KKK. I work for a rural police dept. And this town word would get around if one was in the KKK. In small town seems like know everyone business and the word gets around. The Mayor. the Board and Chief would check into it and more than likely that person would be dismissed.

Racists exist in military today and everywhere on earth...
Those who have face it, easily agree. For those who hold on to it more likely Deny it!!...
As example: White Skin & Blue eyes will say No or small percent in South States....
Blacks will say against them, but not feel their attitude is behind it...
As Mexican decent person, we face it often, as if just crossed border today as Questioned where in Mexico came from. Or how our English has accent.
I am sure Middle Eastern & Oriental decent can express what they go through too!...
Bible say We who Deny racist exist has the plank (main reason still survives) then the person who repeats racist exist (splinter of hurt, anger it still happening as adult or to their children).
When I served in 1981 the young boys who grow up all white 18 years in majority of white folks had such hard time of female being above them (Sargent or PFC) & if different look would get them in defense mood to a simple task.

There is racism from both sides in law enforcement. It has gotten so bad that even my husband retired early from his job. There are white officers who hate blacks, and blacks who hate police. And no pun intended but this is not a black and white situation. This country right now is full self centeredness. I don't think it is fair to say that all or the majority of police are KKK members, or even the military. It is a societal problem.

This would have to be an extremely well kept secret and we all know that the more people sharing a secret, the less secure it is. I would not have tolerated such an environment nor would my friends including the black police officers I worked with. I will concede that there are a few "badge heavy" police with a lack of compassion that I feel is required but far from an organized KKK membership. Never heard of this before* All three of us boys and Dad were all military and 3 of us all retired for Police/Marshal service. Never, I mean never, I have heard most of the law enforcement officers are/were KKK members.I join the police dept. to arrest suspects during wrong/unlawful acts.I didn't join to be the problem, but wanted to make an difference in a positive matter. Between the three of us our family served over 100 yrs of combine service with the POLICE/Marshal service. I myself have NEVER met an clan member other than the ones, I have arrested. Some liberal either got arrested or one of there friends got arrested and there yelling ,the (Police arrested me because of the color of my skin).Now, are there clan members in the law enforcement service? I hope NOT, and if so they need to be replaced......NO room for this!!! Just like a bad shooting if it's wrong got to fix it.This is my story and reply.

I spent 6 years active Army and 31 years as a Rural Sheriff’s Deputy. I never met any openly racist members of the law enforcement community in all those years. Granted I worked in California but still that is remarkable given the belief that cops are inherently biased against minorities. For 16 of those years I worked for a brilliant Sheriff who happened to be black. I don’t doubt that there were some latent racists in our department but I personally never met one that I was aware of. I ran across very few racist citizens in my many years in law enforcement. A few but very few. All in all I believe most people are good and a small group of those who were not, were enough to keep me busy. I did, however, meet a few racists in the Army. The ones I met were not all from the south contrary to popular belief. I served from 1973-79.

Obviously, racism exists in every corner of our world. There are racist people in every walk of life, race, gender and profession. Some have the authority to make other's lives more difficult and even dangerous. But the overwhelming majority are dedicated to preserving life and liberty. They are the ones who run into burning buildings, rescue people from abusive relationships and protect our property from those who would steal it if they could.
I'm not sure if this question was meant to create dialog or to stir the pot, but it has done both.
Bottom line: I know a lot of police officers. To my knowledge, none of them are members of the KKK. I can only attest to what I have observed with my eyes and ears. I'm sure I could find "evidence" to the contrary on the internet. But I could also find absolute proof that Bigfoot exists.
The only way I can figure to root out racism is to live a decent life and treat people with respect, and hope it might be contagious.

I had to read this more than once.
I spent about 10 years in law enforcement in Georgia and never met another brother/sister that (to my knowledge) was active with any race-promoting group. If anything we were "clannish" meaning we tended to enjoy our own company (law enforcement) more than other people. More due to the general public typically has no idea of what we went through in our careers. The same can be said about combat veterans, they can only be comfortable around other vets as they "understand" one another better.

From my experience as USMC Military Police, private security, and now working in administrative law enforcement; while I never worked in a civilian police field, the idea that many police are involved in the KKK are absurd. At Camp Pendleton the Provost Marshall (Head of MP's, a Colonel), was a black man who picked up Marines in his own vehicle walking back from the Beach Bash. It's entirely possible the KKK has a large number of police in their ranks, but the KKK numbers are minuscule in today's day and age that it doesn't matter. And almost unanimously police reject the KKK and their ideals.

Police work is high risk, high stress, and require complex and difficult decisions, often in a split second. So police make mistakes all the time, and the lesser of them try to hide their mistakes instead of owning them. But as more of the US Population attempts to conflate ALL police with racism and discrimination there will be less honorable and honest people working for police districts and making the situation worse.

First, I think that this is a baited question to provoke arguements. Second, that is like saying all bikers are in outlaw gangs, or all of one race is against another race. For crying out loud, how about a little common sense and practicing those skills of observation we were all taught.

Any faction of life can have infiltrators from any number of subversive groups. Let me ammend tht to ALL factions of life. Have people forgotten how many soldiers were shot (and/or killed) at Ft. Hood a number of years ago? People, all people, by nature have weaknesses and can be turned by idealisms. Come live in the HUD community that I live in and you can see many examples from every direction, every single day.

I have many, many friends who are in some for of law enforcement from my local level through federal levels. I have known of, but never knew personally, officers who were charged, tried and convicted of subversive behavior. But in fairness, I worked in healthcare 17 years and have seen the same kinds of things from housekeepers to physicians. I have also seen it in churches that I have belonged to. Some people are just weak or weak minded and that is a fact.

So please, don't generalize any group, race, occupation or anything for that matter due to a few bad apples. That is called profiling which in itself, is against the law. I know. I am a biker in 2 veteran focused charity organizations and have been profiled by public and police alike because I wear a back patch and ride a motorcycle.

I am reading a lot of some uninteresting questions or comments on RallyPoint..I know doing my active duty time I see a lot of acting from KKK group or one person on some post I was station..in fact on one post next to my quarters was a young soldier was into the KKK organization..I remember waking up after getting read to go to work I found a KKK sticker on the back window and front windshield.. i was pissed as who in the F using this S—- on my car.. as I back out my driveway I was afraid for my family..after I got off work and drove home I decided to watch my car for who was posting the KKK stickers on my car and I catch him and I ask why did he do it and his dump ass said I thought you want to join.. I said no and do not put any more stickers on my car and if he did it would be a problem..in the next couple days his household goods were pack and moved out. We already living in a
mixed up society and people keep putting bad shit in the minded head against others
makes harder to believe what’s true. And we can’t come to term and live together..or
figure out someone is feeding we a bullshit..

I'm not sure if you're asking about police officers in general or police officers who are also in the military so first I'll address the latter. Military regulations prohibit membership in extreme organizations such as the KKK by service members. In recent years there's been a large effort to root out those who are part of extremist movements. So while I can't say that there aren't any military police and guardsmen/reservists who are police officers on the civilian side who are in the KKK I figure today the number is very low.

As for police officers in general, I need to do some research into the matter but I would have to say that most, if not all police departments today have similar regulations in place, especially with the racial related controversies police officers in general have faced in recent years. So while it may have been true decades ago that many police officers (particularly in the South) were active in the KKK today that number would be very low. And I would also guess that cops and service members who are currently in the KKK are probably smart enough to keep quiet about it as it would likely be a career killer for them if that information were public.

Prior to the last few Administrations membership in the KKK and other "white" extremist organizations was declining. With the rise in race rhetoric coming from administrations such as the Obama and Trump administrations we have seen an uptick in these despicable movements. America does not need anyone stirring the pot much less our leadership. I personally find it reprehensible that We The People would elect anyone who further divides us. A true leader brings people together from all walks of life, from all points on the political spectrum and he does NOT make enemies of other Americans because their belief systems may be different from his own. We (as in current future and past members) would like to think this crap doesn't happen. In the perfect world this wouldn't be an issue however, it has and is happening. Just like gang members are in the military and other things you can think of are in the military. We just hope that we can find these Soldiers, Marines, Sailors and Airmen that are doing this and kick them out. It's an unfortunate thing and I think it's a very very small percentage of this stuff that happens. I hope and pray this will never exist. In the meantime I hope all will make new brothers and sisters for life and not have to think about if your brother or sister (military brother and military sister) is a member of some organization that does evil and bad things.
