Signed as a 91B in National Guard in an aviation unit. Is this good or bad?

I just enlisted in the Army National Guard as a 91B. They assigned me to an aviation unit and I'm a bit worried about how that'll work. I chose it because of the bonus and because it was available. They had a transportation unit but they said it was full and would have required them making an extra spot for me but with no bonus. I'm just wondering how life as a 91B in an aviation unit is like. Will be working with wheeled vehicles, was it a good choice?

A lot depends on the unit. Normally, if it flies, it has first priority.

I believe every experience can be used as a learning opportunity. As even aviation units must rely on ground trans, I would take the new role with pride and even if it's not exactly what you'd like, perhaps they'll learn something more in-depth from you. If you mean that it seems like it will be more than you can handle or different than anything you know, take the opportunity to learn within a new area. I don't know much about the specific area, but I do know that new roles present opportunity to learn and shine even if it isnt what you wanted. Hope it all goes well!

Aviation units have ground vehicles that require forecasted and unforecasted maintenance just like any other unit.

An aviation unit has trucks just like any other unit does. Not everyone flies in the unit. You should be doing your job fixing broke trucks

Great question, I can tell you as a 91D when I was on active duty I fixed everything. I had a CSM bring lawn mowers to us at GSE to fix because we are mechanics. Lol Good times a FT. Stewart. Great things about the reserves and guard it is easier to change your MOS. I have three!

Yes, you did just fine. Aviation units tend not to have as many wheeled vehicles. Most fuelers.

I was in an aviation unit as a 91B there is plenty of work
