A young man boards the bus and immediately leans against the door. With the motion sensor active for twenty minutes the alarm goes off saying "Please step away from the door" The other passengers yell at the young man. I intercede and ask the young man to step away from the door. No response. In that moment, I felt disrespected but I also felt that this was a moment that I can learn from if he refused to. I calmly walked back to my seat, put in my earbuds and left it at that. One of the many things I am grateful for with my military experience is the ability to fight for what's right and when to allow someone to make a complete fool of themselves. In this volatile world, you cannot control everyone but you do have responsibility to be in control of yourself. When I exited the bus, that young man held the door for me. Perhaps, the young are not as immature as we think.Should they require civics and competency in volunteering as a critical component in high school education?2019-04-29T18:14:48-04:00A1C Ian Williams4590769<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I had an interesting "city" encounter today.
