I think all music is cool, I don't listen to music that have messages that I don't care to hear, because the beautiful thing is that stuff exists out there for subject matter we do like. Actually I'm surprised there isn't more politically directed music. Leftist ideologues used to use folk songs extensively to promote their agenda, especially among the young. Because music is made by people. Music is not driven by artists any more. It is driven by the corporations. If you want proof look at American Idol, (Insert Nation Here)'s Got Talent, The Voice, etc... They take people who have a modest amount of talent, and present them as a great talent. They then produce an album that is comprised of cookie cutter songs that have no soul in them. The one hit wonders of the 60's, 70's, and 80's had heart and soul. The second factor is butt hurt disorder. People get offended over the stupidest shit, and instead of putting on their big boy pants (yes even females can put on their big boy pants) and dealing with it, they whine about it until it is banned. Who is going to put out a song that makes a statement with that kind of backlash a possibility. It's less of a headache to put a cookie cutter album, cash in on a payday, and then go play XBox. Generally, I view most forays by celebrities into political topics as little more than self-serving publicity-seeking, oftentimes coupled with some sort of guilt complex.
