I spent 17 of 20 years on active jump status. Aside from those who served with the 82nd and loved they're status few cared.
The other units I was with cared less. My proposel is this, a tab for those with a minimum of 25 jumps in all conditions with a follow on mission. Combat gear.Just because you are not a jumpmaster with at least a star does not make you irrelevant as what seems the modern case. Does 25 jumps and above not make you a Jump master? Let those with the JMPI training that have the qualification of JMPI have an attachment to their wings or a separate design.
We of modern basic wings may have more experience than some modern Jumpmasters could possibly fathom. BLUF Rangers , Sf and engineers have their tabs, let us have ours.

I don't see a reason for this at all. If you want a tab you can go and get one. You just have to go to Ranger/SF/Sapper school to get one. There is already badge for being airborne.
Tabs represent a unique skill set. They cater to more so leadership schools. All of the schools with tabs are leadership schools. It is not in a sense of an NCOES but leading a patrol to conduct a ambush you have to be a competent leader. I am airborne qualified. I have not used any skills learned there since I left an airborne unit. My amount of jumps really doesn't mean anything to me. I am also Ranger qualified. I use the skills I gained there just about everyday in my leadership as it made me a more tactically and technically proficient leader.
We have too many badges already. There are many schools out there such as: Bradley Leaders Course, Abrams Leaders Course, Light Leaders Course, any Master Gunners Course, Mountain Warfare, and SERE.
If you made that tab a permanent award then you would just being creating the black beret of badges. In theory it would be making everyone special with their own tab. What about a Mechanized Tab or a Air Assault Tab. But I think I got one for you.

Sir, I completely agree. We already receive a badge for the qualification of being able to jump out of a bird. I don't think it warrants a tab.

Just what we need, another redundant wiz-bang to put on a uniform.
Sorry, not a good idea. That is what Jump Wings are for.

I don't believe having a tab will influence people's perception one way or the other. People see ur wings, they either respect the accomplishment or don't

Tabs do affect people perception. In most infantry units they do a tab check. They are looking for the coveted Ranger Tab. Without one you will automatically be labelled if you are an infantry officer. It is rare, if at all, to see an infantry officer make LTC without a tab. I only seen it once and they were in charge of a Basic Training battalion.

The difference here is that Ranger /SF tabs identify that specialty. The para skill badges already do that with airborne soldiers. Even green berets don't have a SF skill badge and a tab. One or the other is sufficient.

No. I think the three levels of jump wings and associated criteria are sufficient.

I must disagree sir. The 3 wings and criteria are not sufficient. Those of us with basic wings are looked down upon even though our experiences may be greater than a jumpmaster with star an wreath. Other countries have separate wings for jumpmasters why shouldnt we?
Thanks for your opinion one paea to another.

Why do you need anything more than jump wings? Or would you rather give up the silver wings for a shoulder tab?

Just look at all the fake tabs out there. Tabs are way cooler than a badge. Everyone wants to feel elite. I am tired of seeing Recon tabs or some other lame excuse you are special tab.

SFC Michael Jackson, MBA did you need to fill out your Hurt Feelings report?
Edit: I see you removed the downvote. I wasn't trying to make you do so, just poking some fun.

1LT Scott Doyle I think at this point he's just amusing himself with the downvote button.
And thanks for the recognition, we can all use a little snark now and a gain. For Instance: I wont downvote someone who calls Marines dumb (even though as a service we're smarter than average).

CPT (Join to see) The minimum is 15 pieces....but we just want you to express yourself...and if you feel like the minimum does that....

CPT (Join to see), you know that the "15 piece" criteria is taken from Office Space and not an AR!

LTC Stephen C. Sir are you sure? Most soldiers I've seen have at least 15 pieces of flair, I could have sworn it was in a reg somewhere.

Capt Richard I P., I retired in '98, and Office Space was released in 1999, so perhaps it did appear an AR and Office Space took their cue from the AR!

I've always been a stickler for reading the AR to maximize my flair, Capt Richard I P., and I can't recall making it to a legit(ish) 15 pieces, even with my Recondo badge and Heer-issue Shootsonsleeve.

Cant wear all at once, in fact its impossible and some are worn while only assigned to the unit then removed if not assigned to a unit like it. Some come in a rainbow of colors depending on the main unit patch. We can go on......

If this is a question about Airborne from someone that is Airborne. The answer must be Airborne. I vote yes. Airborne trumps my SF Diver Badge...why not?
