Should the military provide tests that allow soldiers to earn civilian certifications? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/should-the-military-provide-tests-that-allow-soldiers-to-earn-civilian-certifications

Reason I am asking this is because after serving over 11 years as an infantryman, Not a single army school certified me in anything that fell within my expertise. The only way I could get any credit for schooling or training is college, which I am taking advantage of, regardless no certifications? Seriously what is going on here? Some MOS's translate more easily than others, & infantry it appears is one with some difficulties in that translation.
This is an issue that won't be addressed or solved in the short term, but may be able to be addressed. It will take a coordination effort to batten this one down. I do hope for many soldiers sake that command is willing to look at the issue and seek ways to examine the impact and value of such certifications. Just google "Army Cool". There is a link for MOS 11B. I have not personally signed up for anything, just browsed around and noticed that they do provide opportunities for credentials. Mostly deal with security, investigations, etc.
I know I did not provide the most information but maybe you will find it useful as a stepping stone. Let us fellow grunts know if this or any other programs are beneficial. SFC Private RallyPoint Member Sun, 01 Jun 2014 11:28:05 -0400 2014-06-01T11:28:05-04:00 2014-06-01T11:08:24-04:00
