Should the members of CHAZ, CHOP, or whatever they are calling themselves today be considered traitors for seceding from the Union? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/should-the-members-of-chaz-chop-or-whatever-they-are-calling-themselves-today-be-considered-traitors-for-seceding-from-the-union

Just a curiosity question to provoke thought and civil conversation.... A large part of the population regards members of the Confederacy as "traitors" because they left the Union and formed their own Nation with an independent government. Should not the autonomous zone in Seattle be considered the same? They consider themselves no longer subject to US laws and have formed their own border with fences, checkpoints, and are reportedly requiring ID for anyone to enter. Is that not in effect what the Confederacy (in it's base terms) was? A rejection of Federal control and oversight?

As an added bonus...Would the Confederacy still be considered "traitorous" had they been successful in their struggle against the Union?
