I Strongly Believe the Judge should have Granted the Change of Venue. The City as a Whole is Already Emotional! There is going to be a High Level of Prejudice!

I'm not sure a change of venue would or would not help since this tragedy was blasted all over the news and social media. Unless they could get it changed to some area of Alaska that has a judge but does not have electricity nor news print.

SPC Andrew Griffin - Absolutely. Especially since the city has decided to pay the family $6.4M, which clearly sends a message that they think the officers are guilty. This has all the makings of the Scottsboro Trial in the 30's in Alabama.

These people, regardless if they're guilty or not (which isn't up to me to decide since I'm not a lawyer or judge) still have the right to an impartial trial. That's what's great about our country. So yes they should have been granted the change of venue!

If there are convictions, and obvious (and valid, IMO) appeal can be made that there was not the possibility of a fair trial.

If there are NOT convictions, good luck safeguarding the (now officially, regardless of one's opinion) innocent defendants.

The wrong call was made.

This dangerously close to being a show trial. It's gonna turn into a spectacle and judgements are gonna turn into political decisions. The system is failing these people one step at a time.

I agree, especially since the city paid off the family of the victim. It is going to be very hard to separate the perception of guilt.
