Most definitely, in fact I believe that all government should be part of the same health care, retirement and pay system as the rest of the military. Why should they be allowed to have something different and exempt from the laws that apply to the rest of the nation?

Absolutely Sir- as leaders, we are taught to "lead from the front"-- it only seems appropriate that our Government Leaders should do the same. It would also go a long way towards stifling the "them versus us" mindset of the government worker (both civilian and military) as the budget is navigated. Thanks!

No. The members of Congress, the House and Senate should not get squat for pulling a single hitch. there is no equity here. The Feds already tax our pensions, and 14 States tax our pensions too. Leave the military retirement alone. And take the Secret Service away from retired Executive, Legislative and Judicial retirees too. They dont deserve it and our country cannot afford that luxury.

Of course, but they will not. It has been a long time since an elected official has remembered they are their to represent not rule. We the people our the Government. We need to retake our rights and our Government.

They shouldn't get retirement at all. I'm sorry, we shouldn't have "career politicians." If they want a retirement account, put them in the TSP.

Welllllllll . . . . . while I emotionally agree with many of the respondent about how congress should lead, set the example, cut their pay, etc., I'll tell you that won't ever happen.

(1) They are not "leaders," they are representatives. And by that they represent their own desires and interests ahead of ours.

(2) Because of rule (1) nothing would ever happen or get done.
