Should the Government protect citizens or should it sucumb to lobbiest pressure?

Purpose for this post is two-fold:
1. To raise awareness of an issue that affects us all.
2. To get your opinion/feed back on a recent event where the FBI pulls an alert because of political pressure from bankers.

The FBI posted an online advisory about vulnerabilities with new chip-enabled credit cards, but then removed the message on Friday, less than a day later, following concerns from U.S. bankers that back chip cards.

The government at all levels should do what a reasonable job of protecting its citizens LTC Private RallyPoint Member.
Police and other emergency personnel should not be forced to succumb to lobbyist, political or other special interest group pressure which would interfere with them doing their duties.

That is the underlying problem. Lobbyists. Amazing that in a democracy a special interest group that can be as small as 1.6 percent of the population has a larger voice in congress than an overwhelming majority of the rest of the 300,000,000 voices crying foul? These politicians are crooks they are corrupt they aren't in it anymore for the love of their country only to line their pockets. Whatever happened to the good old days when one could hurl heads of cabbage and rotten tomatoes at the offenders head??

The information is still out there, and their only point is that no single system is fraud proof. Their advisory only gave common sense advice about safeguarding, using your pin, once it becomes available... Etc. The Chip cards are no more vulnerable than the magnetic strips, and less so when used with a pin.

Well inform citizens ... that is all we need. Lobbying works because of ill inform citizens. No amount of money can put in a candidate that is against the voters' will. Seriously, a bad candidate can only win when voters are ill informed or ... bad citizens started with lol
