Should the Department of Defense consign all SERE training to the USAF?

I think it could be done. It is a specialization school that could, at the least, teach the basics of SERE. If any branches what additional, they could add on, but why not have it all based in the same location? You could bring in SERE specialists from other branches, too. I don't think it would take too much of a tweak to get the school to teach what all branches want.

I have a two fold answer for you MSgt Charles Johnson - First, I do believe it could be done - as a guy in the SOF community, we already go to some of the other SERE courses ran by the USAF.
Two - I don't think SERE-C specifically should be consigned to the USAF, due to the fact that each branches SERE-C is tailored to suit a specific environment. SERE-C in the Army for example - SERE-C at Fort Rucker is different than the SERE-C at Camp Mackall and rightfully so. Don't get me wrong - they both hit the key training points throughout the course, but one is tailored more so to Aviators and that community - while the other is tailored more to the SOF community and those who find themselves working in similar environments as the SOF community.

That being said - I do believe in leaving the other SERE courses in the hands of the USAF, as you guys have done a great job with those schools (I've never heard a bad comment from the school up in Washington).

I would say it would be a good move to consolidate the schools under one joint command. Allow the different service to send instructors and to deploy as needed. It may help to make sure everyone is on the same page when it comes to SERE and possibly build some morale among the forces.
