Should the Bamberg, Germany group or any other Military Post Location group be limited to members currently stationed there?

I was stationed at Warner Barracks, Bamberg, Germany from 1981 until 1984. Many US Military posts in Germany have been and are being returned to the German government. Because I am not currently stationed in Bamberg, Germany I can be a follower but not a member of the group. As we continue to drawdown forward deployed forces and reduce our military bases through the periodic Base Realignment and Closure [BRAC] process if groups are limited to current members, then many OCONUS and some CONUS groups would need to be closed else change to topic groups.

I was in Bambeg from 1989-1991 (with a brief break in late 90 to early 91 for a 6 month vacation in the desert). I know one other guy on here for sure who was there at the same time, though a bit longer, because SGT Michael Epstein was my roommate.

I was also there from 88-91 and had a brief vacation in the desert. I was in the MST working my old MOS. good times there.

I was there from early 06 until the end of 2012. It wa great people and met my wife there. So if you where there at anytime you should be a member it's about Warner barracks not what unit you where in

I was in B co 1/54 as my first Duty Station (Black Sheep!) and then LTC Brown sucked me into HHC to be his track driver. 1984-1986 and then I went back to Bamberg after Benning to 1/52, which transitioned to 7/6 Inf. I left Aug 91. As Rich stated above we were room dogs in A co 7/6

Why should any group be closed? For example, I grew up in Europe, spent 7 tours there, have been involved at some point in almost every base.

I was at a kaserne in Furth, Germany (across from the Hardrock Cafe, can't remember the name fo the kaserne), then they moved us to Erlangen, then they moved us to Bamberg. Of the three, only Bamberg is still a US Army post.

It should be open to all who were stationed there. I Sgt. Shawn P. Ireland was stationed there from1978-1980 in C Co.1/54Inf. 1st AD, WARNER BARRACKS.Went back once prior to the closer as I was visiting my wife's family in Schweinfurt, Germany which was my second overseas duty station which has also been closed and returned to the German government. Our Battalion Commander was LTC Moore. I served as the Company Commanders APC Driver, with SSG Botkins as track commander. We both were in third Platoon and when Cpt. Scholtes took over the Company we were selected to move down to HHC Platoon. I lived in the room right next to the CO's Office with Sp4 Bryan DeRoller, who was the CO's Jeep Driver, and Sp4 Jones who was the XO's Jeep Driver. Was a great place, one I will forever remember. My buddy Sp4 Stephen Henderson who was our Como assistant lived across the hall. We had his baby daughter living in the barracks for about four days as his wife and baby had just gotten there and she took off with another GI. The CO finally caught on and we had to give his daughter to his wife and about two weeks later her boyfriend killed his baby daughter as she had a cold and he gave her NyQuil and she died. RIP ASHLEY HENDERSON, I shall never forget you. I've been out twice in the last five years to visit with him as we lost touch for a little over thirty years. I found him online one day and called the number to see if it was the right person and we have stayed in touch every week since. First guys I met were both from my home town of San Jose, CA. They were Sgt. Mark Van Quelin and Sgt. Benson. We had some good times downtown at Kings Inn! Time has surely passed.

Well, since the post has been shut down completely... the group should have all those that have ever been stationed there.
