There will always be those that try to get away with not following the regulations. It's the job of other Airmen and their leadership to call them out on it. Just because it occurs occasionally, does not mean that it is "allowed".

Sir,
If someone decided to procecute me for making a joke, referring to the "Lol", I will take my punishment like a man. I will say that I do not have to like anyone in the military, I have the right to say I don't like them. I just have to take orders from them, and execute. I don't even have to like the orders given, and I have the right to say I don't, but I do have to execute the order properly.

You are correct, SPC Smith. You do not have to like anyone (or everyone) in the military. As a citizen of this great Nation, you do have the right to voice your opinions. As a Soldier in the Armed Forces, you do have responsibility to take orders from superiors and execute, and you have the freedom to not like or dislike anyone you choose. In all these things you are correct. But, it is so easy today to make a spiteful or disrespectful comment and pass it off with a "lol" or a quick "sorry" and it's supposed to negate what was said. In a civilian forum, I wouldn't have said anything. But this is a military forum, and I feel the comment was disrespectful toward the Commander-in-Chief. Further, it is off-topic of the original post, and added no value or thoughtful input. My intent was to bring this thread to respectful, thoughtful discussion about Soldier appearance. I stand by my comment. I trust you'll take this in the constructive manner in which it is intended (and the comment wasn't limited to just you).

Sir,
Now that I understand your intent, I can readjust on my part. You are correct my post did not offer anything to this thread. I won't aruge disrespect because that is a subjective matter, and we all have our limit on what we think is disrespect.
