Should Sergeant Audie Murphy Candidates be required to score a 300 on an APFT to gain membership to the club? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/should-sergeant-audie-murphy-candidates-be-required-to-score-a-300-on-an-apft-to-gain-membership-to-the-club <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I am not a SAMC member, however, I recently became aware of the requirement for candidates to score a 300 on the APFT. I personally do not think it is fair to our service members who have permanent profiles who can only compete two events on the APFT, considering the fact that membership in SAMC is considered a (+) for promotion to senior ranks. By excluding a Soldier who can't score a 300, who has given a 100% throughout his or her career and sustained an injury that prevents them from competing, we give other Soldiers who can compete in all 3 AFPT events, and unfair advantage. I have known some really great NCOs who have sustained injuries on airborne operations or even in vehicle accidents through no fault of their own, who I think are outstanding NCOs, who would not be eligible to compete. I guess the additional question is whether or not a Soldier with a permanent profile can be the best of the best. Or should we remove SAMC membership from promotion consideration.
