On August 17, 2017, Democratic Missouri State Senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal, replied to a comment on one of her Facebook posts, writing "I hope Trump is assassinated!"

The Office of the President of the United States is bigger than any one person--no matter who holds the office.

These types of threats against our President from a sitting government official, like him or not, cannot be tolerated.

Like "I hope you get run over with a car."

"I hope someone comes to your house and rapes you."

I just can't see the loophole as it involves violence and HOPING it happens.

Am sure the Secret Service is now doing there job, researching and determining "possible" threats. As far as a seated Senator making those types of comments, well, she might just fit the category of ignorant! Her home state should set the standard and unseat her through their own state legislative laws that are in effect.
That said, though I voted for him, the real ignorance starts at the top, and if he can say things, those below him in government can and will start to do the same because there is no jury that would find her guilty if he is permitted to continue to do the same. At this stage, she screwed up, but no worse than many others in their own right. Unfortunately, as they say, "It will take an act of Congress" to fire her!

Freedom of speech is exactly that; free. No one said it had to make sense once the words leave someone's mouth. No matter what, everyone has said that statement that they wish that they could take back. I don't know where she stands with that. However, I understand this is magnified because she is a public servant. Nonetheless, I do not feel she needs to be crucified and immediately crushed for all that she has worked for. If that were to be the case then let's challenge every public servant to the current and monitor their statements of weakness. If every time a politician says something stupid, they had to resign, we wouldn't be able to keep anyone in office more than a couple of months. Trump would have been gone long ago.

There's a difference between freedom of speech and making a statement against the life of the Commander in Chief...while hearing someone on the street saying this is asinine at best, having a public official undermine someone above her is uncalled for. Imagine an NCO or officer talking shit about their chain of command-is it illegal-no, but it definitely undermines their chain's authority. No different here. If these politicians really don't like what he's doing, then they need to do something positive to help the situation, not something that causes even more unrest.

I think she will fight the fight right up until they expel her from the state senate, then she will resign at the last possible moment. Then she will claim racism and bigotry as the cause for her being expelled, write a book, do the liberal talk show circuit and live happily until she blows all of the money she made on the book deal and finds out she can't get a job doing much of anything.
