RP needs to get funding from somewhere and companies need more than one way to interact with us. It doesn't bother me much as most threads I truly care about (that are tagged correctly) catch my Notifications anyways. I'd like to take this time to suggest RP make some more sweet apparel and trinkets in that quiet RP store. I downvoted the movie ad since they had Medal of Honor and Combat Medic in lower case. They fixed it and deleted my post and I took off the down vote. Though I don't think an advertiser cares much about votes. Ads are a part of the internet in todays world and it's certainly not hard to ignore or block them. If there were charges, RP would then become a forum for only vets who can afford it rather than a forum for all vets. I think back to years ago when we got our first smart phone, like many then we didn't understand apps so asked the salesperson about them. One thing we were told was there was no need to pay for an app unless there was some very special thing you wanted. Over the years have found this to be sound advice. And as someone suggested in a previous message, to charge by rank…the problem there is rank means something when active duty, but once retired or out, a PFC could be making more than a Capt., so that would not be so fair unless it was strictly active duty military using the site…and its not.
