Should POTUS stop all diplomatic relations with Russia?

I see so many civilians saying POTUS should not go to RU. What should we do? Some act like we should go to war because they hacked us. (Remember RU has been attempting to influence US elections from the 1960s and even before.) https://inhomelandsecurity.com/russia-election-meddling-espionage/ I am just not sure how people can be surprised at RU actions. It is normal, unless your eyes have been closed for years.
Others say Trump should be stronger about the hacking that happened under Obama's term. Seems some even act like Trump should go to war because of actions that were before his time?
What do you think? What should we do? Sanction have been applied many times...tough words do not work without tough actions. Not sure what people are advocating.

Whatever President Trump chooses to do, he is wrong! Of course Russia has an interest in the outcome of US elections, just as does every other nation. And they put their money where their mouth is (remember the Chinese donations to President Bill Clinton's campaigns?). Meanwhile, we overlook the obvious. Yes, the Russians hacked Hillary's email server and the DNC servers, and they found classified information and information of DNC shenanigans. Gee, why aren't we prosecuting those? Well, we might if we weren't so focused on bringing charges against people safely ensconced in their home countries where we can't touch them. How could the Russians obtain these files if they never existed or were properly secured? So many questions to avoid while we prolong our snit over the fact that Hillary LOST! Damn, I love repeating that...

What should all the countries do to the USA for our election interference? As you are well aware, Jim, espionage has been around as long as there are enemies. With the amount our taxpayers pay the IC, we should be able to address the issue and counter them. We are the richest, most powerful nation on earth. If you leave the cookie jar open and available, someone is going to reach in it.

I think Trump should step back and let the State a Department handle Russia, but the US as a whole should continue diplomatic relations.

Nope...POTUS should not trust Vladimir Putin in anything...and let's not forget Kim Jong-un...HE definitely should not be trusted in any way, shape, or form.

I don't think cutting off relations would help anything. And it wouldn't move things forward, but backwards. But I certainly think he should be stronger about the hacking, and enforce the sanctions, and even raise them. For Pete's sake, please let him not go over and then say "I talked to Putin. He said he didn't. I believe him." Like he did last time. I also want to see him announce a serious effort to stop it as much as we can.

SSgt GG-15 RET Jim Lint - Just because we do, doesn't mean we should. And there are lots of ways technologically to at least slow it down, if not stop it. I don't believe we should throw up our hands, and say "it's OK, they are going to do it anyway." And my guess it, had Russia been for Hillary, and she had won, and you had any idea they influenced it, you'd have a fit.
